I just read that cutie Mario Vasquez has dropped out of American Idol. Personal reasons were given for his decision.

The show isn't worth watching anymore!
 
This is the worst season of American Idol EVER - there are NO contestants that I think have what it takes EXCEPT for Bo Bice and Mario Vasquez...Bo has a great rock look and voice and Mario had a great pop look and voice - what a shame...
 
Yes, Mario has left Idol for 'personal reasons". He will be replaced by Nikko Smith which Im very happy about..Nikko deserved to be in the Top 12 anyway and Im so glad he is getting that chance. But isnt it odd how this happens every year where a contestant leaves for 1 reason or another??

The show hasn't really been worth watching since FRENCHIE was voted off a couple of years ago - now SHE could sing!!!!
 
wow i don't think i am going to watch it anymore, thats a dam shame ... Mario had the looks, personality, and the voice.... i do hope everything is well with him, and just my personal opinion Nikko smith doesn't belong in the top 12!!
 
I heard on the radio that the women really are not that good, and the men are the only reason to watch, but on the whole, the singers are not that good.
 
I think the only one who has really made a career out of American Idol is Kelly Clarkson.

Her debut album sold over a million copies, and had a few hit singles.

Her new album is in the Top 10 now, and is over a million sold.

The first two singles are in the Top 20 chart. "Breakaway" is #17 and "Since U Been Gone" is #6.

Actually, Clay Aiken has also gone on to sell millions of records...he has outsold Ruben Studdard, who actually won the title of American Idol that year. So both he and Kelly have done well. As for this year's singers, I don't want to be cruel but they are all "amateur night at the YMCA" as far as I am concerned - at least in previous seasons there were one or two really outstanding, charismatic vocalists that you knew were going to be battling it out for the title...this season, no one is really likeable (except for the departed Mario), no one is charismatic and no one has any particularly great vocal skills. Blah.

Marios Departure

I'm positive that you've all heard by now about Marios departure from American Idol, as saddened and heartbroken as I am, I know that he did what he felt he had to do.

I spoke to Mario personally earlier today on the telephone and he squashed any rumors of being kicked out, or reasons he had to leave. He said that he has some family things to take care of and the timing just wasn't right. So contrary to whatever rumors you may here, I personally talked to Mario himself and will not believe anything else.

Mario and myself both hope that you will continue to support him and Mario-Online.org because we all know that this is not the end for Mario. He already has his foot in the door and he will go extremely far and prosper in whatever he does, no matter how long it takes him to get there or whatever route he chooses.

Mario knows the love and support that his fans have given to him since the beginning of this competition and he loves each and every one of you and thanks you immensely for your support. He knows that he would not be where he is today without his fans, every single one of you. And he hopes that you continue to support him in whatever he does.

I will forever support Mario Vazquez so this site is NOT closing down anytime soon. Hanna and I will continue to go forth on the t-shirt sales, and hopefully you will all purchase one in continuance of your support of Mario Vazquez.

He & Amanda Avilla were the only ones I was voting for. She's gone, & now him too??? No more Idol 4 me! 🙁

But I am glad to know after taking care of some things, he will keep working at his talents!!! 🙂
 
I think he was the one with the most buzz from the show. I wonder what would've happened if he had stayed on????
 
Let me just say that there are a lot of great contestants in the Top 12. Mario was good but he didnt have the best voice. He did have charm and charisma, and the looks that a long of young girls go for. Im sorry he dropped out but he obviously felt the need to do so, so you cant blame the show or any other contestants for his depature. Nikko is really good and I felt he deserved to be in there more than Scott or even Constantine. So Im really happy that he is getting a second chance. Mario's depature also leaves the door open for other contestants to get a chance to make it to the finals..like my fave Anthony Federov!

Does anyone think it's just a puplicity stunt? I mean, he's going out on top.. and by that I mean, he made it to the top 12... and he is definitely one of the fans favorites (especially the young girls and we know how much of a buzz is out there for the "cute performers).

Do you think it is?

I actually like quite a few of the performers this year so I'm not disappointed in AI 2005.
 
Just went on the American Idol website and there isn't ANYTHING mentioned at all. Nikko's picture is there under the top 12... but no mention of Mario at all.
 
Ricanlips..Idol isnt on tonight..now that they are down to the Top 12, its back to being on Tuesdays at 8 and Wednesdays at 9. Im also curious to see if they mention Mario on the show. The same thing happened last year when George Huff replaced a contestant named Donnie Williams who was arrested for DUI...however, that happened during the semifinals, not this far along in the competition.
