Does anyone know what happened to Mari of Sweet Sensation fame? Why did she leave the group? Does anyone know what Margie or Sheila are doing now? I am too happy to see Betty back on the scene but I've always wondered about the others. 🙂
 
I think Mari left the group cause she wanted a solo career and plus she wanted to do more RnB stuff. That's what there manager had told me back in the day. You know I still have her business card too..with all the girls autograph. I believe Mari now has a huge family and is chillin!!:flowery
 
Sweet Sensation was off da hook.. Sexy LAtin Ladies to be Proud of..Especially when they performed on stage! However...Has ANYONE ever heard Margie or Mari SING?
 
Mari and Margie are sisters and Mari currently resides in LES in NY with her husband and 4 kids and she left the group due to personal issues. Margie lives in Bayonne, NJ with her husband Nick and 2 kids.

I have a DVD full of all these performances by Sweet Sensation. Unfortunately, all of the TV programs they performed on when Mari was a part of the group had the whole group lip sync. I have a couple later performances where you can hear Margie and Sheila actually sing back up live. I would love to see a picture of Mari nowadays. She was always so beautiful. They all were actually. 🙂

MAri si still very pretty, of course shes put on a couple of pounds after having 4 kids but is still looking good. I saw her this past weekend.

It would but you have a better chance of hell freazing over. Especially with Margie. She is a devoted Christian that attends Time Square church. Mari, on the other could be convinced.

I'm happy to hear that they're all doing well. I always wondered if Mari left because she didn't feel she got enough say in the group. For instance, when I watch old interviews of the group, it never seemed like she got the chance to talk but you could tell she had a lot to say. Make sense? Maybe I've been reading too much into it but it just seemed she didn't like all the focus being on Betty. That's totally understandable. Anyone have a pic of Mari nowadays? It'd be too cool if she'd visit the boards to say hello. And speaking of Sheila in the last post... anyone know what's up with her? She was equally as beautiful as Mari. If Betty, Mari, Margie, or Sheila ever read any of these posts, I do hope you all are doing well and happy in your lives. You've brought us all wonderful memories and songs that have played in the "soundtrack to our lives". And a reunion would be awesome!!!! Hehehe. I'd travel anywhere to see that!
 
Also, regarding Betty, I've heard it mentioned that the "new" single that's out "featuring" her is an ancient unreleased bootleg that's being passed off as "new." What's the word on this?

I've heard the same thing....That the new track is just a couple of current producers who remixed an old song with Betty's vocals. The production is new, the vocals are not.
 
From what I have heard, Mari left the group for a solo career that never happened.

Margie was supposed to sing lead on some Sweet Sensation songs, according to an old interview that I used to have in a magazine. That also never happened.

In one of our chats one Sunday, the lead singer for Voyce was in as a guest. He confirmed a rumor that Sheila was supposed to work on a project with them. That fell apart before anything could happen with it.

Betty will be performing in South Florida for 93.1's show "Not So Silent Night" on Dec 11th. I believe the billing is "Betty Dee featuring Sweet Sensation" and she may be doing the song "My Body" as well as Sweet Sensation classics.

I was about to post that. 🙂

I have heard about 5 different reasons for the member changes & about 5 more for the break-up, we will only know the truth when we speak with the girls themselves.

The new song is "My Body Tu Cuerpo", & is billed as:
DYNAMIX presents SWEET SENSATION featuring BETTY DEE
For those that don't know, DYNAMIX are some of the hottest Dance/House producers in club land. The track is also available on this new comp called "Boy" by hott DJ Roland Belmares. (available at Amazon.com)

Whether the song was old & never released, or new, ...it's still 'NEW' to us.
To my knowledge, the guys from Dynamix have worked with Betty Dee, & may have new projects with her as well, which tells me regardless if the SONG is old or not, the vocals on this track are new.
And yes, Betty Dee will be here in Florida on Dec 11th, & she will be performing her new club jam. (Along with the classics!) 🙂
