Greetings, Freestyle Fanatix;

This thread will likely be moved to the "events" forum, but the news is that Judy Torres has been confirmed to be returning to the Chicago area on Saturday, August 23rd at the club formerly known as the Prime and Tender-now known as "Studio 63". The event will also feature Keith Nunnelly (formerly of JM Silk), and the return of some of the old WCYC personalities such as Majic Juan, Denise Morales, and Harv Roman. WCYC Alum such as Candi Gomez (B96), Donnie Devoe (Power 92) and VG Lozano (Radio Disney-Chicago) will also be invited to help launch the new/classic "WCYC" radio show which will begin airing on WJJG (1530 AM) on Saturday, August 9th at 6pm. The show will then be broadcast every Saturday night from 6pm to 7:30pm-with expanded hours being negotiated.

This will be another great opportunity for Chicago area CF members to gather and remember past WCYC/Prime and Tender events which featured George Lamond, Legacy, InEffect/D'Zyre, Tony Moran, Coro, Cynthia, Fascination and on August 23rd, 2003...Judy Torres!

Studio 63 is located at 63rd and Harlem in Burbank, Il...just across the street from Chicago. Visit www.wcycisback.com for news on upcoming events to be presented by WCYC Entertainment.

Now let me dust off my microphone,

TOO BAD STEVE SILK HURLE ISN'T GONNA BE THERE

Keith Nunally has stayed in the game-he just hasn't had a deal for a while. Steve "Silk" Hurley is a much sought after producer here in town. He's done really well with some major artists. Who knows, maybe the "Jackmaster" will pay us a visit!

Kenny, thanks for the additional pub...Heidi, let me know if you need VIP treatment. I know that you tried to "PM" me, but my box was full with four entire messages. Try my Hotmail.

Remember when real DJs tossed out 12" records??? The danger in flying vinyl...

The clock is ticking...

Hey, Clubfreestylers;

There's less than a week to go before the Judy Torres show touches down in Chicago at the Club formerly known as the Prime and Tender and currently billed as Studio 63. The promoters are feverishly working to book their next show, so not only should you use this event to meet and mingle with your fellow CF Crew, you should also take some time to suggest performers for the next event to be held in late September, early October.

I'm hoping to meet a few of you on Saturday. I'm working on a guest list, so if you're tight with me...

Judy Torres in Chicago...in the books!

Good evening, CF Fanatics;

Last night Judy Torres made her triumphant return to the Chicagoland area with a WCYC Reunion show at Studio 63 in Summit, Il...or as the old school refers to it-the Prime and Tender NightClub.

The night started out rather slow as only about 300 people were in the house at 11:00pm (the concert was slated to begin at 12 midnite). By 11:30pm, there was a nice line to get in, another crowd gathered at the door and maybe 400 people inside.

Eventually, between 800-900 Freestyle fans squeezed themselves into the Club and witnessed Judy as only Judy can do. She sang her hits and the crowd sang along as well. Judy also did her best Freestyle impersonation of Oprah Winfrey as she occasionally slowed the show down in order to get close and intimate with the audience. Two things stood out about the show: First of all, Judy allowed for several members of the audience to share the stage with her during various parts of the show and secondly, she "polled" the audience by singing bits and pieces of other Freestyle songs (by George Lamond, TKA, Soave, Cover Girls, etc) and asked the audience to sing along-if they remember the songs. This was a great and unselfish touch as she seems to be picking up the Freestyle on her back and carrying it around for all to see and hear. She talked about keeping Freestyle alive and with her over 40 minute performance, she certainly did her part.

After Judy did her thing, Chicago artist Keith Nunnally of JM Silk put on a nice show as well. After Keith's contributions, Judy came back and did a nice encore performance at about 1:45am (CST). The audience was well behaved (they used to gget into fights 15 years ago) and the Club is looking for more Freestyle dates from WCYC Entertainment.

Much respect for Majic Juan Suarez for taking the ball and running with it. We have talked about putting on events like this forever-along with the resurrection of the WCYC brand and he is all over it with just a little help from myself, and WCYC Alum Denise Morales, Virginia "VG" Lozano, Cindy Mendez and Gino "Rockin" Romo-who came out of his "semi-retirement" in order to spin our favorite Freestyle cuts.

The new WCYC show airs on Saturday nights from 6pm to 7:30pm on WJJG (1530 AM) with a webcast planned for the near future. The proper website for updates would be www.wcycisback.com .

Respect also to Cindy Collazo for her repeated attempts to whisk me away to the event...a long story.

There will be a second show. This time we'll actively seek out the CF members in attendance.

Judy...a great talent and an awesome performance!
