Proof. Cutting the freestyle show to 2 hours, whats up with that?!!!! KTU is losing their mind now!!!. Let me finish this thread so I get started typing up a complaint letter to KTU.
is this a permanent thing????? is it??? i called today like 40 minutes ago when i got in my car and i heard alicia keys played out ass...yo we all need to get together on this!!! write and call people write and call!!!!
we got to do this...WE ARE TIRED OF KTU USING US FANS!!!!
we have to stand up!!! lets do it!!! if every clubfreestyler emailed i am telling u there would be progress...ktu CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE ANY LISTENERS!!!!!
You guys know they are trying to make changes over there at KTU. New personalities, changes in mixes, there is stuff going on there. KTU's ratings have sliding. If you don't make yourself heard freestyle may disappear from KTU.
I knew it was coming. the firing of great on air personalities, the "HOUSE" mixes Johnny budz was spinning during the lunch mixes. I wish JOHNNY BUDZ would of warned us!
Well I spoke to Johnny and he told me that people dont want to hear the new freestyle that he was playing and they were getting tired of hearing the same freestyle week in and week out so that's why they cut the show down to 2 hrs. I think the only people that wanted to hear the new stuff and the rare classics are the people (myself included) on this board. So he suggested that I call KTU and complain which Im going to do. So yes, definitely write letters. KTU was the only station devoting time to freestyle and we cant let them stop playing it altogether! The people on clubfreestyle are the ultimate freestyle fans and we have to show our support!
its really a big blow to freestyle to do that and if they start there, no telling where they might take it....my bro was in radio in northern cali for 12 years and i saw his station go thru this kind of stuff many times over....getting rid of people...bringing in new personalities and changing the format several times...you know this, but its not a good sign. especially when they take a certain hour hour away from a dedicated program. to take out an hour of the show tells you that the decision makers have identified that freestyle show might be a part of their problem in terms of ratings and they might not stop there unless we all give them a reason not to...we must call, email and complain non-stop...bombard them with feedback regarding this decision otherwise they will feel they made the right call....no feedback is looked at as good feedback to them cuz at least noone is complaining...if they feel they made the right call and that a ratings spike happens..they could target freestyle with a bullseye and point the finger....you just dont know what they will do.
i went thru this here in chicago...you still have a major station supporting at least 2 hours weekly....not enuff of course, but thats 2 hours more than chicago people....i saw this same cut back and pattern here several years ago on b96 and it started with a small cut then lead to its demise, i heard the same stuff..."oh its nothing, we will still support freestyle." b96 used to fully support dance and freestyle music....now nothing....our resident freestyle dj, the legendary tim spinnin' schommer does not play it much anymore if at all in his mixes...not by his choice but from the suits who call the shots im sure. now....no freestyle at all on b96....energy 92.7&5 is playing some in its rotation but is hardly as popular as b96 at this point...b96 is total hip-hop...all day, all night....if you dont want your freestyle taken off the format....you must let them know you do not support this decision and want to hear more freestyle.....
sounds like ktu is getting to be like a philly radio station Q102 Q use to play freestyle and now all they play is top 40 and rap so now i dont even lisn to the radio i stick with cds
but I'd die for a 2-hr show on Z103 in Toronto! We don't even have a freestyle mix show all we have is 1 hour of freestyle songs every sunday. It seems to be getting worse... the only old-skool played here is mainly STEVIE B STEVIE B STEVIE B... it gets excrutiatingly repetitive. The 1 hour of freestyle music just zips by in a second practically. And sometimes there's some euro thrown in there!! So you NYC'ers should be really happy that freestyle is still loved in your area.
