so I hear Geronimo is out, Vic the Latino is in. do you know what I think? i think that Vic the Latino is behind some of this or will be part of future music decisions. he previously worked at Party 105 L.I. and Party 95.3 in Orlando as music director. so Party 95.3 in Orlando has decent ratings with their trance and breakbeats. now I think KTU hired him to change up the music. but NYC is freestyle. Orlando is breakbeats. that's why Party did ok down there. but Vic is into more progressive underground music, and I'm not talking new school freestyle here. i don't know if he has done anything yet, but as you may have noticed Party 95.3 played little freestyle under him. i think KTU saw it's ratings go down and may try adding more progressive music. but I can tell you why their ratings went down, a friend of mine broke it down to me and it makes sense... one of their transmission towers was located atop the World Trade Center, so the now KTU has been reaching fewer people with weaker signal. also their has been a decline in popularity of the pop stuff. KTU is reacting too quickly. they need to get their signal strength back up and give it another ratings period before they react.

also what is the email address to the Program Director or General Manager? I can't find it.
 
Be careful of ROCK. Since Linkin Park has the best selling Album of 2001, and U2 having the best selling concert of 2001, you never know. KTU might be like it's old days at 92.3 when they moved into a rock direction(now days it's the famous K-Rock). And I heard their ratings are going up pretty good. So let keep up those e-mails to KTU to save our freestyle!!!!

KTU didnt necessarily turn into "ROCK". it was just bought by another company. as disco died, they needed to sell the staion fast,KROCK bought it.if it turned from KTU into KROCK, then it couldnt exist today. thats like saying the county station COUNTRY 103 switched formats to dance (KTU). The country station's frequency got bought out and swiched to a another frequency (94.3).

GERANIMO was the 3rd highest on the KTU staff (frankie blue being the first). KTU had to do major cutbacks and GERANIMO was chosen. they always start from the top.

besides, NEW YORK has way too many rock stations. they cant be that bold!
 
Thats the same with here(DC), why Hot995 suck. They are top40, but they are trying to lean towards lots of hiphop. And DC has too many urban, hiphop stations like Atlanta. Hopefully like KTU our station(hot995) will see that. Plus we can pick up signals clearly from lots of stations in Baltimore. Thats why 995's ratings aren't too good. Our old Top40 station(Z104) which is now Adult/Alternative is doing better than 995. I forgot, 995 is also own by clear channel(like it's NYC sister stations Z100, KTU).

it's not just that, look at all the people they have gotten rid of and now hired. rumors have gone around for quite some time about KTU hiring Vic the Latino and eventually upping him to Music Director or somewhere up there. the rumor about him going to KTU ended up being true. plus if you knew Vic Latino's music tastes it won't be good for freestyle (though it probably wouldn't be eliminated totally). but we'll see if it ever gets there.

you guys i know we agree this is a major blow and i have herd that KTU has been swamped with calls from listeners from both the studio 54 show which was from 7-9 or something like that i never herd it so..
And from freestyle freeks like us with the cut and hour changes lets make sure we make our voices herd...

look up there website - www.ktu.com

and send emails and if your in the tri state area call or look up the 201 # and spend just 50 cents to make your voice herd....

I know it's her job and all but cant she atleast stick up 4 da freestyle freaks(us) and see what happens.
