represents a good or bad time in your life....or just bring back a memory of when things were so great....or so horrible in general?

I'm listening to this CD I made....and Safire & Cynthia's "Can You Stand The Rain" come's on and it brings be back to the end of Summer in 2001....September 11th, when things in the world were so phucked up.....but also represents a good time cus I had just moved to the Bronx after graduating college in Boston.....and NY was where I wanted to be. Great Summer.....but living and working in NY after September 11th was just wierd, depressing, unknown, intimidating ....and this song was everywhere on the radio. KTU was showin' mad love. It always reminds me of that point in my life.......it's crazy what music can do.

I think music is a time capsule of your life. A particular song can in an instant bring back memories...good and bad. Like songs from the 80s remind me of my childhood. Or a song can make you think of a particular person. Its really incredible what music can do.

The Other Day I Was Listening To 102.7 And Kc & Jojo "all My Life" Came On. It Stopped Me In My Tracks. The Memories Good And Bad Came Back And I Realize That Most Of Them Were Good. I Agree With Freestylgal, Music Is A Time Capsule Of Ones Life.

Wow. I'm gonna bare a part of myself and tell you all something.

I graduated high school in '87, and had started my first job. Things were not going well for me at work, or home, and I was generally in a "bad place" mentally with everything. I won't go into specifics, but I was having a very difficult time, and there was a song that totally fit my mood, called "Wouldn't It Be Good" by Nik Kershaw. It fit my mood to the point that I had planned on using the lyrics as my suicide letter.

Needless to say, I didn't follow through on that thought.

Last week, someone put a cd in the radio at work, and one of the songs that was on it was "Wouldn't It Be Good", and it was very suprising and odd to hear it after all those years. I ended up smiling, thinking I overcame all the bad stuff, and am on a good road now. 😉

There are a lot of songs like that...when I hear some of my old favorite songs that I haven't heard in a while it reminds me of those times I used to listen to that song over and over again...but there are some songs that when I hear the lyrics it's as tho I wrote them based on my life or an experience at that time...some songs that come to mind right now are "Forever" by BCM/Trinity X, "Don't Say Goodbye" by Marilyn Dia and a lot of Zoe and Dimi's songs...

Too many to list, and they remind me of so many phases in my life.
They take me back to when life was all about clubbing w/ fake ID (1018, Roseland, Palladium, Studio 54, etc)....lol damnnnnnnnnnn
They also remind me of old school friends that have passed, or have moved on and all communication has been lost.
When I give it thought most of em were good, but give me mixed feelings cuz things are so different now.
Listening to Freestyle in general brings back all that energy, and makes me shed a tear at times....shhhhhhhhhh

.......When I used to live in N.C., that would be the song that would play during the time when me and my friends would hang out. And everytime I hear it, I always end up remembering something we did together (be it stupid or cool).
