SMOOTHRHYTHM: WOW!! GOOD TO HERE SOMEONE ELSE MENTION MOHAMMED & FRANK'S NAMES. I KNOW THAT FRANK IS A CONSULTANT FOR HBC'S MIAMI STATIONS (SALSA 98..). BUT, HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING NEW ABOUT MOHAMMED?

PETER: PHIL JONES WAS LET GO BY KID, BUT THE NICE WAY THAT IT WAS OFFICIALY ANNOUNCED WAS THAT PHIL LEFT ON HIS OWN. DONT KNOW WHERE HE IS AT NOWADAYS..

CG: KID CONTINUES TO BE THE PD FOR POWER 96. HE IS ONLY OFF THE AIR B/C OF THE LAWSUIT THAT BO GRIFFIN HAS AGAINST THEM.

@ Marlon,

the last thing i heard from Phil was, that he moved to NY or LA....
Good to hear, that he is back again in Miami.....can u please give me his E-Mail addy ???

And yes, his Mix shows back in the days were off da hook !!!

Greetings

MARLON: WHATS UP, HOW IS NYC TREATING YOU? NO, PHIL JONES IS NOT AT PARTY 931. THE PHIL THAT IS PD AT PARTY 931 IN MIAMI IS PHIL MICHAELS-TRUEBA, HE USE TO BE AT HOT 105 (MIAMI) & ALSO PD AT 953 PARTY (ORLANDO). ALL I KNOW ABOUT PHIL "$" JONES IS THAT HE WENT TO NYC AFTER HIS SEPARATION FROM POWER. REMEMBER WHEN BO FIRST CAME DOWN FROM NYC AS BO "THE PARTY ANIMAL" GRIFFIN. SHE WAS A WILD ONE BACK IN THE DAYS..

SMOOTHRHYTHM: DO YOU HAVE MOHAMMED'S EMAIL OR CONTACT INFO? IF SO, CAN YOU PM ME WITH IT. THAT'D BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

Yesterday I was reading a copy of an industry fax called, g-mail and they were doing a story on Power 96 in Miami and the increase that they had in the ratings going from a 5.1 to 6.0.

They talked about some of the changes that they made with personnel and the music. That's where I came across the Program director, Kid Curry's comments about the stations move away from freestyle music: "Since we're an 18-24 station, we decided, over the past three months, to get rid of freestyle music, a genre that put us on the map...but we felt it was now a 15 year old product,"..."We held on to it as long as we could, but we decided that freestyle was done."

The article goes on to state that it's now played only in special feature form, out of regular rotation. Curry goes on to state that, "At the time, there wasn't a person in my office who didn't get up in my face saying, 'You're wrong,' but I believe it's helped us. Our regular oldies now sound more compatible with our current product."

Any thoughts?

Cutting out DANCE on any CHR/Rhythmic is likely to help the ratings.
