Does anyone know how many freestyle artist have gone platinum before? I know Lisa Lisa, Stevie B and Expose all have gone platinum. Deos anyone know of any more?

Yes it is true....Corina has the pleasure of having the highest charting freestyle record on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Temptation reached #5. However, I don't believe the album went platinum. It was virtually ignored because at that time cassette singles were still in mass production. So you could buy the song without having to buy the whole album, unlike today.

On another subject, the freestyle artist that had the most singles to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 was....

SAFIRE 🙂
Let Me Be the One, Boy I've Been Told, Thinking of You, Gonna Make It, I Will Survive, Made Up My Mind, Taste the Bass

Yes cassette singles were in mass production. I even saved a few. LOL But in response to your last sentence above.. today it is also possible to buy music without buying the whole cd.Just the other day I spotted a Cynthia's "thinking about you" on cd single at Tower records.I think Corina and Freestyle as a whole for that matter got the shaft on that song if it did not receive a Platinum. :blah to radio stations :blah to the guys who make the decision as to what gets played! :blah to all who oppose
Happy Holidays to the rest!

I know George Lamonds "Bad of the Heart" reached #25 on Billboard's Hot 100, but it also reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Singles chart as well.

OTTOMH, I would've guessed TKA & Taylor Dayne also. I love "stats" I'm gonna research this.

Canada's "The Underdog Project" sold more then six million copies worldwide of their recent album "It Doean't matter" featuring three worldwide freestyle mega hits: "Summer Jam", "Tonite" and "I Can't Handle It". The album was a german co-production licensed to Kontor records, home of international dance acts Darude and ATB amongst others.

Vik, the lead vocal of "The underdog project",recently released a solo freestyle single last summer with Miami Bass records/Sony Music germany a remake of Stevie Wonder's "I Just called to say I love you" that charted briefly up here under the artidst name "Mr. Summer Jam".

Rockell's first album was a gold record up here in Canada. And, to add to the list, Lil Suzy's "Take me in your arms" was also a gold single in the US in 1992-1993.

no tka
no lil suzy
no bobody
no johnny o
no stevie b [freestyle type record though his ballad because i love went gold ]
but no actual freestyle record period

what are you talking about Kay! Stevie B's "party your body", "In my eyes" and "Love and emotion" all went platinum, and all those albums had alot of freestyle tracks on them.

"Part your body" was definitly platinum, I know that for a fact.
