How long do you listen to the current freestyle mix shows

do you guys listen to the freestyle mixshows from begining to end or do you drop of after an hour or so .
the reason i ask is because i would like to know what you would need to be a loyal listener to them without falling off the freestyle wagon.
please take your time to answer cause this important as far as we go cause radio is about time spent listening and the average listener only listens for about an hour or two after that we lose their attention span and they start flipping the channel its important cause as far as freestyle cause how many of us stay from beginiing to end lets us know how much we will matter as consumers in the music industry. should your fav dj load his first hour with with all the good stuff or should he or she spread it out but with that how many of you will stay to listen...
 
when freestyle is on, i do my best to listen from beginning to end..:dancingb
 
From beginning to end. It gets such little airtime, that i like to take advantage of every second.

Well in KTU's case they need to spread it out and not inluded the same old freestyle tracks in the rotation. there was and is tons of tracks that should get played.. If you hear something new that helps the attention span. As well as guest DJ sets without handing them "do not play lists" Like New Skewl music. ThaT needs to get played too. The way Latino Mix did. I was listening religously. Damn Univision!
 
yep I got to agree with Soul here. To much of the same music is played and not enough of the new and even the classics. Latino had a variety. It felt good to listen to songs that make go ohhh shiat I remember that shait ohh that was my song".

heh well I can't hear any of them but I listen to DJ Paradise religiously! From beginnin to end on Saturdays unless I'm not home for some reason. 🙂

I believe K was referring to "mixshows" specifically and not regular programming. That is a totally different scenario. Regardless, as far as my mixshow goes, I NEVER use "the same old freestyle tracks". If I use a "Show Me" or a "Silent Morning", I never repeat tracks within a 4-6 week period. I keep careful accounts of what songs are used on what dates. My mixes always include songs that make the average to above-average listener go "oh sh*t I haven't heard this song in ages". Keep in mind the majority of my audience are people who don't know much beyond the "classics". I have to cater to them as well, they are my majority. I take a lot of time and energy into reconstructing the songs so that they sound different and have an "edge". When you hear me play something as simple as "Hooked On You", its a totally different version than just the regular club mix on the 12". I try to introduce as many different elements of the song as I can. Every week I repsond to tons of email asking me "James, what was that song you played at 11:18?" or "can you send me a playlist of all the songs you played" or "wow you really took me back I haven't heard so-and-so song on the radio in years".

I am the most listened to mixshow DJ on the radio for freestyle anywhere, and whatever my formula is- it works. My numbers have been consistant since day 1. I have had nothing but an overwhelmingly positive response through calls and emails and remarks from freestyle fans. I don't get paid a dime for the hours I spend putting everything together week after week- I do it because I love the music and I am in a position of power to share my talents and love of the music with the fans.

I listen when I'm in the car for as long as that is. I only flip the station if there's a song playing that I don't particularly care for and if the show is swinging too far in one direction. Last night I listened for a good while in the car and heard some really good old school songs that I loved, mixed in with some that I didn't love (then or now), but I listened in the hopes the following song would keep me interested, which they did. P.S. I loved your song that I heard just after you signed on. Is that a new jam? It was hot.
 
I am with Soul, Most DJ's play the same thing every week same artist same everything they dont ever do anything surprising. I say mix it up old and new and not the same artist every week. Dayum shame I tell ya.
 
I hardly listen to the radio, and I hardly ever listen to live streams on the net....even when I do listen to the Freestyle mixshow's when I'm in NY, and a song comes on that I really don't like, I wind up changing the channel and then I forget what station I was listening to. I might've listened to Latino Mix like 2 or 3 times.
 
i listen to mix shows from beginning to end.....i never want to miss a song. plus i love when they drop suprises or rare stuff i haven't heard in years.
