And I don't mean "hot" as in good. I mean in trouble for playing that Tsunami song with the "We Are The World" tune making fun of what happened.

Someone reported it to the news and had it exposed as inappropiate and offending. Hot 97 did apologize for airing it and won't be doing so anymore.
 
That was stupid move on their part. The station being fined, I'm not sure I agree with that, but the dj's who played the song should be fired.

What people may not realize is that they (the dj's) were making fun of foreigners. Think about it. It was ok for them to play this song, because it was foreigners who were victims. Would they have played a song that made fun of September 11th, 2001 in October?

Exactly Chuck. Which is what this council member was saying.....they were making fun of Asians. How stupid of them.
 
I saw that on channel 7 last night & stupid asses isn't the word. Nothing does surprises me anymore. I won't say anymore since its a pointless issue. disgusting.
 
all i can say is that i'm asian and that it was kinda stupid how they did that. then again, most of the hot 97 dj's are black. i'm not tryin to sound racist since i do listen to hot 97 [along with z100, 105.1 and ktu] but they did make it sound like they were a lil bias towards asians and that's not a good thing...
 
It was a stupid move on their part and they should be penalize one way or another. I personally email the hot97 about it and also email the sponsor of that segment. It was tastless and just plain stupid.
 
What a disgrace ! It just shows you how society today is ,uneducated and low class . . . This would have never have happened in the "Freestyle Era "

Most likely Freestyle in its time would have held a benefit concert , no doubt .
