Awesome show! TKA was AMAZING.... love the new sound with GL. Rockell was great... did a great job with one of my fav songs "Tears". Everyone else was great as well. Nice applause for Judy. Cynthia sounded great. Lil Suzy and Coro... what can you say... nice!
Now on to my peeve(s) of the night.
I know this is a little long, so bear with me.
The Vanderbilt ****in blows chunks! Now I know why that place has closed down so many times and has had major issues generating regular business (with the exception of hosting events like this one).
First off... the line outside was disgusting. Ive never seen anything move so slow. But some things I guess u can't control... there is only one entrance to the club. And thats not the only club in the NYC/LI area that has a line to get in... so fine I can deal with that (even in 15 degree weather).
But then we get inside and im like OK, now I can party (and I can thaw out)... to find out I have to check my coat. Ok... line doesnt look too bad.... probably right down these stairs. I get down the stairs to find a 10x longer line, a line that could give goddam DISNEYLAND a run for its money. I am wondering why this line is so long to realize they only have TWO windows for coatcheck! Two windows for TWO THOUSAND people. Webster Hall has four window/areas, Culture Club has at least three. Come on Vanderbilt... can't you set up a makeshift coat check somewhere else in the club to speed things up?
Then I finally get my coat checked... and i get upstairs and am relieved to realize that the show didnt start yet (was 8:45). Then the BIGGEST peeve of the night comes into play. Where the **** were all the bartenders? Not only did it look like they were short on bartenders... but the ones they had were complete idiots. Hello Vanderbilt... there are THOUSANDS of LICENCED BARTENDERS in the NYC/Long Island area looking for work. How bout hiring a couple to keep waiting for a drink down to a minimum, which keeps the customer happy, and "HELLO HELLO MCFLY - ANYONE HOME".... generate some more revenue for the night. I walked over to one bartender area... waited 15 mins to be served... didnt get served... so i walked over to the other side of the bar... waited like 20 minutes... didnt get served... and then walked to another side and I finally got served after waiting 10 minutes there. I missed the entire damm Coro performance waiting to get a lousy Budweiser. I DJ a bar in Manhattan that has twice as many bartenders as the Vanderbilt has, for less than half the barspace... and im sure my place does twice the business the Vanderbilt does. Why? Because drinks get served quicker.. which means you serve more for the night.
Sorry Vanderbilt... but you get the "assclown award" for this one. With the amount of pissed off people waiting for drinks (I was talking to plenty of them and they all shared the same experience I was having)... you would think there was an OPEN BAR it was so crowded. I actually had to wait forever and THEN PAY. It was a VERY GOOD thing that this show was OFF THE HOOK to make up for the Vanerbilt's stupidity for just about everything else there, or else I really would have left pissed off.
Truly disgusting. The next time there is an AWESOME event that I want to go to... thats unfortunately being held at the Vanderbilt... ill make sure I get loaded BEFORE I show.
I hope people that work at the Vanderbilt read these forums... cause they really need to get their ass in gear.
