I understand where your coming from, Nitro. It's been bothering me lately. Today, i walked in a cd store and asked the kid behind the counter for any new "freestyle". he then showed me the "eminem" cd. i was like "ok.....how about LATIN FREESTYLE"? he then showed me a "FAT JOE" cd. I think were losing! 🙁

Dayum Kenny, lol. i wonder, was the person behind the counter young? coz if its an 18 year old working at the store maybe they just dont know. Freestyle is/was before their time, ha ha. i wish that they would just leave our Freestyle name alone. its ours! nothing against fat joe and them coz i have his and puns cds too ( i love their $hit) its just that it is NOT Freestyle and its confusing peeps! whats next, ya know?

well..i think it was and still is called latin freestyle because of the obvious influence of latin sounds in the music. i don't think it had anything to do with the nationality of the ppl singing the songs.

this is true that the majority of singers are latin but calling it "latin freestyle" is kind of singling it out. i understand "majority rules" but then we should use that example in all types of music, which wouldnt be right. like "african american hip-hop" or "white-american country". even though majority would win in each of thier favors, it just doesnt sound right. but, nevertheless, the term is now being used to describe the "latino rappers" now that rap "freestyle".

when I was younger it was always called club music and when i moved to jersey in 92' and everyones calling it FREESTYLE.... mabey they didnt want to confuse it with club shit like.....that club stuff they got now.. (ex: iio-rapture) etc...

i dont even remember when i started calling it freestyle..

at least theres a name to catagorize our music so it wont get mixed up with the"club music" cause freestyle is the true "club music"
