What do you see and or want the direction of the freestyle sound to be???? This will help many procuders cater to -YOU- the true freestyle fan!

In my opinion, i don't think freestyle producers should cater to only the 'freestyle fan'. If its gonna succeed again, it must be taken serious by the average fan. Catering to just the freestyle fan will not make it succeed.

ok....remember in the early 90's, when freestyle started to take a different turn (TKA "CRASH",LISSETTE MELENDEZ "GOODY-GOODY", NOEL SECOND ALBUM) when they started to explore out side of the freestyle realm, they didnt fair so well to us with thier projects. i think one of the best artists to get out of the freestyle sound were K7 & CYNTHIA (IF I HAD THE CHANCE). WE have to think this one out carefully!

el futuro:

In order for it to be the way it used to be, or better, the freestyle music will need better production, better handling
of promotions...but i know all this involves the mulah!!(money!) Innovation along with new talent, fresher ideas it's what is needed, peaceouttie....

Well if someone is to become King then the present one must be overthrown!

What am I saying???

I was watching 'Showtime at the Apollo' the other night & someone had an idea to come out & dance to old classic house music. The mix started going into Freestyle and the guy was boo'ed off of the stage...

The guy had skills in dancing...So he wasn't ejected because of that...Seeing this is an indication of how bias people are of music now-a-days...How many "artists" out there now can really "sing".

No I don't mean Sampling Martha Walsh (Weathergirls) voice & then using a vocoder to blend your horrible voice over hers & I don't mean screaming, begging &/or hollaring.

We have the power to chose...Good luck trying to convince the RAP crowd to listen to Freestyle... The first thing that comes out of their mouth is: "oh! that sissy sh.. or you crazy, RAP is "real" it's "real".

It's just to say that they would rather worship a hoodlum who does not or ever did anything even remotely close to what they want you to believe in their videos because he or she said what he said in a way that captivated your simple @ss in a "song"...

Am I Mad yet???Nah!

But I am a firm believer in change & through history no kingdom has reigned forever...

I am optimistic to say that Freestyle will make a comeback but slowly & then it will fade away due to a new groove...

Possibly (New Wave Disco or something)

ready whenever u are

Great Points!
I agree with the overthrowing theory.Although a lot of people say "oh you`ll never be George or Stevie" and I say thats Great cause "Im Kennyfreestyle" and since there is no one claiming the task of uplifting freestyle back into the Marketplace, mark my words. My voice aint the best,my songs arent the worst. What I got is Love and Heart and will to see things through.
So If y`all pardon me Id like to put that Throne on layaway!
much luv,
kennyfreestyle

FreeStyle's Best

FreeStyle's best producers and artists left this genre a long time ago. Unless they return, I don't see a major comeback in the works.

I see alot of negativity and very little REAL input..remember...freestyle will NOT be what it was...it died out because it did not evolve..and if u think that because the "producers of the past" are the only way it will flourish again...the i'm sorry to say that u will have to keep rewinding your old mixed tapes and playin out the wax of your records to hear what u r used to......it is not going to be the same and if all of u that want to hear the same old school style....well..then it's not going to happen plain and simple...so please be realistic and more optimistic in your postings....this was meant to be a forum on the progression and ideas to help it progress for all the producers that read this.......
thanx

pete

well there are new producers out there but freestyle is stuck in the late 80's and early 90's.....
it cool to look back, but turn your head around and look for the future......

WHAT COULD HELP FREESTYLE? HMMMMM... MY OPINION IS THAT FREESTYLE NEEDS BETTER PROMOTIONS. REMEMBER WHEN COLLAGE "I'LL BE LOVING YOU", ROCKELLE "IN A DREAM", CYNTHIA "IF I HAD THE CHANCE" CAME OUT? THEY HIT BIG IN NEW YORK!!! ALL I REMEMBER IS HEARING THOSE THREE SONGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! THEY PLAYED IT RANDOMLY WITHOUT OTHER OLD SCHOOL FREESTYLE SONGS INCLUDED. THE PUBLIC LISTNERS LOVED IT!!! PROMOTING A NEW FREESTYLE SONG IS VERY HARD AND VERY EXPENSIVE, BUT PROMOTING A NEW FREESTYLE SONG IS THE KEY TO THIER SUCCESS AND FAME. THINK ABOUT IT..... HOW WOULD YOU KNOW HOW GOOD A SONG IS???? YOU WOULD KNOW UNTIL YOU HEAR IT!!! SO IF WE DON'T HEAR IT, THEN WE WOULDN'T KNOW. IF IT WASN'T FOR WEBSITES LIKE THIS WE WOULDN'T KNOW HALF OF THE NEW ARTISTS THAT ARE OUT BECAUSE WE DON'T GET THE CHANCE TO HEAR IT ON THE RADIO. WE NEED FREESTYLE PROMOTED BETTER AND BIGGER. THIS IS THE KEY TO EVERY NEW ARTIST THAT IS OUT THERE, PROMOTIONS!!!! THE RIGHT PUBLICITY IS THE KEY TO EVERY TYPE OF ARTIST OUT THERE.

Here's an idea!

Napster could be a well placed solution to this Freestyle comeback thingee...

Check it!

Since Napster is being Pimp slapped by all the Record companies and told that they cannot give people access to download copywritten material, maybe everyone who is really down with Freestyle (Musicians, Singers, Lyricists, etc...)
can get together & put some tracks on Napster. Copywritten or not as long as you are not down with a record contract you should be O.K. & so would Napster...

This might keep Napster going & your material can be heard & voted upon like that 'Smash or Trash' thing that KTU's got. This can also give a poor man (the non-risk takers) as well as Freestyle a new foundation to build upon...

Everyone says Freestyle needs to be changed so lets hear how you think it should sound this time around!!!!!!!

Freestyle need a makeover period, I love it now but we need to recruit Younger singers to appeal to the Younger croud.Freestyle Artist so also get involed in making more Videos, lets Just face it there are not that many out there. Also we need to recruit more non latin artist, to apeal to other cultures.Napster would be a good medium for Freestyle, but maybe more artist should put there material on mp3.com and maybe see about putting videos on broadcast.com. The old school artist won't be able to save Freestyle, a rebirth needs to take place not a resurection. Nuff said
