hey what's happening everyone Toronto_Gino here!
i was just wondering how is Freestyle doing in the U.S. cause down here in Canada it seems as though it has died out completly. we use to have a freestyle show on Z103.5 and they stoped doing the show about 2 or 3 years ago, and clubs don't play freestyle, there use to be a club called plastique and they would play freestyle but that club has changed names and they no longer play freestyle. and it is kind of a shame that it has died out, in Toronto that is.. but there is one club that does play freestyle and it's called menage and on wednesdays it's called wayback play back, and they play some freestyle but that is just not enough.
when we had our freestyle show called the freestyle frenzy which was hosted by Tony Monaco, and i would request songs for him to play but he would never play them, he would basicly play the same songs all the time, but the thing that botherd me was that there was so many Freestyle songs made and so many that were so good that had never been played and that people never have heard of and probally will never hear it cause they weren't played like memories by Jacqui cenci, im waiting by Gina Dee Cynthia- if i had the chance and many more by her, my only desire by Body base, and much much more, and i really think that freestyle wasn't promoted enough and it was promoted very poorly in the last 5 years to be alive in Toronto but who know's maybe one day it will climb it's way back to the top as it was in the 80's to mid 90's when Freestyle was rocking the roofs off. so how is it doing South of the border from us. maybe Toronto could get some teaching on how to keep freestyle alive. well there is alot more i could say but i'm getting tired right now , so maybe next time i will say more that is on my mind.
time to go talk to you all later
ciao.

Well we here in the States are not fairing that well either, KTU 1035 (www.ktu.com/main.html) is pretty much the only station that plays Old School Freestyle are a regular basis. On Sunday's Freestyle artist Judy Torres (who recently remade Journays song "Faithfully") host "Freestyle Free For All" with DJ Anthony (who is a member of this club) from 9 PM to 12 AM, they do play Nu Freestyle from time to time. The other radio station Mixx 1027 (www.mix1027fm.com) also plays Freestyle and Freestyle artist's Brenda K Starr and Nayobe host different programs.

It's still doing better in the states especially in the NYC area...here in Toronto the end of the Freestyle Frenzy was the final nail in the coffin so to speak...either way there were/are a lot of artists that would put out more freestyle songs but the "demand" wasn't there, or they would never make it on regular rotation so the incentive to sing freestyle was not there either...many things led up to the way freestyle is now up here

t-dot needs to start a movement.

i think a big street party. dj/sound system setup.
none of this cd mixer bullshit; technics 1200s to show people what mixing is all about.

crates of freestyle 12"s and drop nuthin but.

im up for it and would be 1st in line to play.
