It seems that freestyle music is rarely played here in chicago as of late. I wish there was a club that played it in chicago, Aurora, or the burbs....Id be there all of the time! I cant even get 720 to play it! I wish someone would bring it back hard! What are your opinions or suggestions.

I totally agree. When B96 went R&B/hip-hop, freestyle died here in Chicago. I am hoping that Energy 92.7/5 will start playing some current freestyle, however the most current song is "Can't we try". There are some good quality freestyle songs out there but noone will play anything new. I have accepted that Freestyle is dead here in Chicago. I have tried requesting freestyle on the new dance radio station but they only have the old school stuff and some of Rockell's. 🙁

yea freestyle is pretty much dead in chicago.......but i heard from greg k that they started playing tim spinnin schommer freestyle mixes on the street mix again......im not sure if they are still playing them.....there is harvs freestyle show on 88.7 at 6:00am on fridays....hes got tony boom boom badia spinning freestyle mixes.....has anyone checked it out......remember the good old days when they played those were the times--miguel reyes, one more chance for love-law, praying for an angel--rochelle on b96.......

check out every fridays at wcrx columbia collage radio my friend D.J. Ace is spinning Freestyle The mixes are hot

Hey guys I agree with you on the DEAD state of freestyle here in Chicago. I've listened to Harv's show and I like it. I was surprised there was even such a thing as Freestyle on the radio here in Chi-town and since I've heard of it I tune in every Friday. I like the interviews he does they are very informative. It gives you insight of what goes on behind the music. I've called Energy 92.7/5 and told them to check out DMA Freestyle Flava 3 by Tim Spinnin Schommer because the style on that cd is what they play. Off that cd I have only heard them play I do Both Jay & Jane. Energy likes to play Rockelle, other artists I've heard are George Lamond (only once "Bad of the Heart") Collage (I'll be loving you) AND on Friday(11:30 pm) their mix included Welcome to my Groove (!) and a FS song but I can't remember for the life of me (forgive me LOL) I was listening with my hubby and we both looked at each other and he turned up the volume. HAHAHA I've requested they play Nyasia, Laissez Faire, and Lisette Melendez but they have yet to play any of their songs. I guess all we can do is keep trying.
As far as a club that plays freestyle out here......... I guess we can dream on. 🙁

"Good Old Days"..........*sigh*

=^..^=

Well next week Chicago is going to have 6 more Freestyle mixxes to choose from. Ahhh... oh well life goes on.

LOL, Kid. Somebody has to help you. Anyway I'll see you next week when I am up there bro. Peace!

Thanks for all your replys, kid heartbreak I love your cds, I really like the new stuff though, I wish you put more in each of your cds. Im tired of buying freestyle cds with old school, I have like every combination out there now. I think a cool cd would be all new school tracks with old school flavor, not the techno freestyle.

Also I think a good idea would be to dj live at maybe a latino dance club here in Aurora. Try to bring freestyle back! Ill support you all the way! I also have a nice collection of records in case you want to borrow any to create your next mix.

Lets not let freestyle music die here in Chicago. I still cant beleive club 720 rejected the idea of playing freestyle. The dj even said " if you want me to clear the dance floor, Ill play it". How insulting!!!

Damn Paresh thats sad to hear. I will be in Aurora next week. More than likely I will be out there in Aurora on Friday. Talk to you soon bro. Peace!

makeYadance

If you are coming to Aurora and want to meet or hang, let me know. Email me at p219@aol.com. Id love to hear some new freestyle songs. If you can bring down some full compilation cds too, Ill pick em up. No mixes!

Kid Heartbreak

Can't wait to hear it Kid Heartbreak! Try to put a playlist out with the cd 😉 Just a suggestion.

Yo, Paresh...!

Thanks for discovering clubfreestyle.com! I hooked up with the website back in February and have been impressed with the passion that the Phanatix have shown to the Freestyle movement...

It seems that you have only recently joined the "Clubfreestyle.com" family, so rather than repeat things that are already posted, let me tip you off to some interesting reading elsewhere on this website...

If you dig deep enough in the archives, check out the "Chicago Freestyle Updates" in the "Everything Else/Shoutouts" Forum (remember, go back to late March through April), you can also read "The State of Freestyle Music in Chicago" in the "Where Are They Now?" Forum, "Greetings From Chicago Freestyle Airwaves!" in the "Introduce Yourself Forum", "The Best and Worst Freestyle Concerts" in the "Everything Else/Shoutouts" Forum and maybe the "Wake Up Dancing" thread in the "Everything Else/Shoutouts" Forum.

Since these threads are a few weeks old, you may have to do some searching...or you can conduct a search using my name and these articles will pop up! You'll also see some more familiar names in these postings such as FreestyleKitty, RoGeReM, Kid Heartbreak and others. We all are fighting the same battles and have been communicating amongst each other. After you check out the posts, respond in kind and let us in on your feelings on the various topics.

By the way, I'm using suggestions for Chicago's best freestyle cuts for my Friday morning show on May 4th, so keep posting on "The Best Chicago Song" thread on the Freestyle Music Talk Forum. I'm using this Wednesday as my personal deadline so that I can gather my stuffs...

Hey, Kitty, when did you figure out that cool Kit thingy on your keyboard? Pretty neat!

Listen to this @...........................

Hey guys check this out my friend and I went out a couple weeks ago and when I got in the car she had freestyle playin. I was shocked I guess she's a closet listener. HAHAHA anyways we picked her friend up and the girl was like OMG turn this off this stuff is so old. I was so mad. Me and my friend looked at each other, let the cd finish off and then changed the music. Anyways that's beside the point.
My friend went out this weekend and she went to some place called Richy's in Chicago on 59th (I think) and California. I think that's way in the hood isn't it? Anyways she said they played salsa/marengue, house AND......... Freestlye!!!! I'll check it out myself some time soon and let the Chicago Freestyle peeps know if it's true. I can't wait to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎

I wish more Freestyle compilations (NON-MIXED) would be more readily available in the stores here in Chicago. Unfortunately, Tower records is about the only place that comes close to bringing in some new and current releases. I DJ and I get tired of all the mix CDs out there.

I agree with you RogerM

I remember the days of buying full compilations of freestyle...
TKA
Coro
Cover Girls
Corina
George Lamond
etc..

was easy, now its a hard find

I did get NV and Pure Pleasure from MAkeyadance, they are both excellent cds!

Paresh,
I have quite a collection of Freestyle full-length and non-mixed compilation CDs but as time goes by, finding comps and full-lengths are getting harder and harder. The only way to purchase them is online which is a big pain in the *ss.

Hey guys I get what you're saying about buying your cd's on the internet but I'm always leary of that because half of the songs on the cd are usually not worth listening to and the ones that are you already have on another compilation. Drives me crazy! so I just need to get that Freestyle Parade 2k1 cd. The couple songs I heard on the show this morning were good.
