BB300, I think it's great you've decided to undertake this project. A few of us have often thought about how such a documentary would be put together and whether such an item would be capable of reaching the masses. At any rate, I think in this state of Freestyle Music the artists you interview or feature need to be appreciative of the fact they're potentially being given exposure to the public through your project. The only way such a project would succeed is if the featured parties aren't greedy in demanding 'compensation' for their appearances. As the organizer of such a venue, only you deserve to receive 100% of whatever proceeds that come out of the final product. This particular project, in my interpretation of your proposal, deals with profiling an underground genre where it's important to keep into consideration the necessity for artists to gain access to the public realm. The only variable that's going to prevent "Freestyle" from comming back or staying alive is greed. I hope your project succeeds.

So you think he should sell copies and make money off the artists? That's great. If it's not MP3s, it's another. I'm sure this documentary will blast freestyle right onto the music map too. Sure it will....

Tran man...........damn i forgot about this thread! it's mad old.
what's up! my partner has been working on other projects for "la bruja" a puerto rican rapper/poet from the bronx, so he put the freestyle doc on hold for now. I also been working on films, lookout for me in the upcoming "party monster" movie based on club kid killer and friend michael alig..we have tons of great interviews and rare footage from some of freestyle's greatest artist. i was hoping it would have been out already but i'm going to have to wait and see on what he decide's to do with it...there are a few other documentaries on freestyle that are also in the works, so more power to who ever releases it first.

by the way it was never about money with me,that never crossed my mind...it's for the love of Freestyle baby and for the fans that love it as much as i do. money was the last thing in my mind when making this documentary.

Anthony, innovation which serves to benefit this starving genre in the long run deserves to be rewarded. Artists in any music realm need not be 'paid' for promoting their own product, which this documentary ultimately would have done. Anyways, it's a moot point now considering the idea has been bagged.

BBOY, sorry to hear your project has been put on hold.

Rummy, with all the bootleg video tapes on ebay, etc...I was worried this would be used for that very purpose. However, I certainly take B-Boy's word. Also, if people really want to support the music, etc..they should try getting themselves over to the many shows in the metro area, as opposed to typin away on their little computers. 🙂

well...bootleg freestyle videos wouldn't even be on ebay unless people actually bought them. i'm sure there are more than a few people on this site that have bought videos and cds and vinyls from ebay. so what?? i've found so many things on ebay that i would have never found in a regular records store or video store. i think it's a great place for fans to find things as well as people who have rare stuff to sell them at. i ain't hatin.

thanks bboy, i was looking forward since last november but as long as it's good when it finally does get finished. 🙂 GOOD LUCK
