It would be great to mention the creation of Rhythm Crossover radio which helped put Freestyle to the top in the 80's. In the post disco era(1980-85) dance music was like the Red Scare to Urban and Top40 radio in the early 80's. Hot103/Hot97(NYC),WPGC95.5(DC), Hot105(South Florida) and Power106(LA) gave freestyle a huge push on radio until the mid 90's when Grundge/alternative rock and gangsta rap took over. Looking forward to that documentary.

I can't wait to see this documentary!

I hope someone notices it & does a real movie on it.

There's so much movies on Disco, Hip-Hop, & Techno/ Rave,.....& nothing new on 80's Freestyle. As I said to someone before, ..."I'm tired of remeniscing with Beat Street, Salsa, & Krush Groove"! ...LOL!
We need something new. I hope this documentary does that!

Artists I would like to see interviewed??
Too many! ...BUT I think it would be kool to round-up all the main & lead singers from the girl-groups, & have them all interviewed together!

Like:
Betty Lebron from SWEET SENSATION
Angel from the COVER GIRLS
Daphne from PAJAMA PARTY
Gioia or Jeanette from EXPOSE'
Lori Ledesma from COMPANY B ...&
Michelle Visage from SEDUCTION

I think it would be VERY interesting.

: )

To: BBOY3000...RE😀OCUMENTARY!

....My partner and I were just putting toghther "THE FREESTYLE BIOGRAPHY" bout' a year ago, we dropped the project nevertheless, and its nice to see someone sticking to the plan. You will have a great experience w/ those who participate. I commend ur efforts.........My creative suggestion would be to hopefully include and cover , the gentleman who found the planet rock beats himself ARTHUR BAKER , to which, seems to be the NEW school freestyle we hear today. That whole moment in time should be covered w/CRIMINAL RECORDS. Great period in freestyle that shouldn't be missed. Great SONGS and artists made plenty of noise!! ....thats my opinion

we officially start working on this project next year(lookout for it in late 2002) but we already got some great footage and interviews.
so... it's late 2002 so how's it going?

The documentary sounds like a great idea. As far as radio station involvement goes, please don't overlook KHQT in San Jose, CA as well as the Bay Area equivelent of the Devil's Nest known as Studio 47 in downtown San Jose. Every major Freestyle artist played there. They did a lot for Freestyle in the Bay Area back in the 80's and early 90's. Ray Lum, Rex Santa Elena, and Cameron Paul are all individuals you shouls interview. If there is anything I can be of help to for this project, let me know. I have been spinning since late 84 so I have plenty of Freestyle stories from the Bay Area.
