Well, it couldn't hurt to experiment with a lower BPM...maybe something in between to compromise. Rhoq, and myself, would like to see 115 at the lowest....Kay is suggesting 100....why not try 107/108. Again, 100 will surely feel hip hop/r & b like. I for one, as some others, don't particularly like hip hop/r & b. Which there shouldn't be anything wrong with...many people dont like rock, pop, freestyle, etc...So, how about that BPM area?? Rhoq? Kay?
 
If it sounds good - I'm down...

This means artists and producers have to put their blood, sweat and tears into their music and actually spend more than an hour or 2 from start to finish. No more having your cousin's best friend's sister's aunt's niece recording vocals because you think she is cute...No more looping Planet Rock and throwing cheesy vocals over it...

QUALITY - it just doesn't happen. You have work for it.

you know for sometime now I have been somewhat held back on accepting anything as Freestyle unless it had yesteryear feel to it..!
BUT as I read what you wrote K.. It actullay started to make more sense.

1st off... it's been years since anyone was able to take the Old freestyle way & make a song into a mainstream hit..(there have been a few, like Cynthia a couple years back) BUT for the most part the genre itself has run it's course. Basically it hasn't worked & if after soooooooooo many years of it NOT working.. it's obvious it won't.. nomatter how much some of us would like it.
it is 2K2.. not '80-'90 anymore.

FReestyle does need to evolve... & it needs ALL of us to support it.
I WILL always be a fan of the old school... BUT it's time to see if as a music genre Freestyle can survive w/ some changes.

2 Important things need to happen...

I think a happy medium needs to be found b/w the beat speed ( i think 110-115bpm would work.. give or take 5..depending on the song..
WHICH is where #2 comes in...

you can get away w/ something slower if the artist hits it on the head w/ the lyrics.. you've got to FEEL it!
The artist to grab the BULL by the horns... is also very important..

I am gettingoff the SOAP BOX NOW!!!!!!
 
alright k, im a hardcore old school freestyle fan that would want it back,, but ur right. If the lyrics and the music is right, than it can be freestyle. You've proved success with "swing"(did a damn fine job too)so im sure u know what u're talking about. Do whatever u gotta do, u got my support 100%. Lets get some good music to the top of the charts.

b/c if you hear something new..& start looking for the old sound.. you're done from the start....

the true freestyle fan will be able to just hear it.. & know it's there.. but better!

Well I think limiting it to any BPM's a mistake that we should have learned from the last time. It doesn't matter as long as you can dance to it, and it has that feel the singer and songwriter gives it. Don't enclose yourself in a box you can't get out of again.

We all will be card carrying members of this new style.

It's funny Cause Willie Val did the same for 2 of his songs and the one he did for me "Eres Mi Vida". Which ended up real good, willie's was "One true Love Affair" and "No Matter What". I think your very right on this Kay....I see where your going and I love the Idea...Naya **MUA** 1 love to both Ty and K...

The TKA-2K2 refernce was nothing more than a tension breaker...

Same goes for the boxing ring pic (although that is not a bad idea)
