So I wake up @ 0300hrs cuz at 0400 I have to take an applicant to MEPS up at Albany. (Has to be on the floor by 0700.)

Before leaving the station, we always give a urinalisys. Wouldn't you know it, this kid popped hot for cocain. :bangbang

So now he has to wait a week. Normally it's 72 hours, but because he pissed me off, I'm going to make his ass wait till next monday. :forkyou

I ain't wrong though Chuck! 😉

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO Dawn! I'm glad you weren't drinkin either. Don't wanna be responsible for you damagin the puter! :lol :lol

Just because someone out in the Civilian sector pops hot doesn't make them a bad soldier.

Matter of fact, because they're in an environment that drug test without notice, turns and individual who used to use into a good person.

The same can be said for those who smoke. Why kiss a person who taste like an ashtray?

I used to smoke. I quit.
Thanks to the importancy I saw in my job in being healthy, I quit.

Does it matter that I cant offer you a better life and job with benefits that cannot be beatin with the normal civilian sector job?

NOPE.

Your choice.

Before we color the kettle black in this joint, we wont mention those up in here that smoked a couple of blunts in there past.

But that doesn't make them a bad person. :aangel

I'm not "coloring" anyone bad because they "popped hot" for cocaine.

My concern would be that this soldier uses their free time to score while in the service, and then, if called out to combat, their habit, or withdrawal symptoms, cause someone's son, daughter, mother, father, to get killed on the front line.

No Chuck...this guy is not in the ARMY yet. He is an Applicant. A civilian. No different than anyone here.

As for them having a habit...never. Urinalisys are given on a monthly bases and is done random with name and Social Number.

Those found to pop hot, are seperated from the service. This isn't Vietnam era.

Ok, so I just want to get this straight.

He is applying to join the army, but tested positive for cocaine.

If he retests, and pass, will they still take him? I mean, won't the fact that he failed once be on record somewhere?

I know that most jobs won't accept an applicant that has failed a drug test. If the army accepts him, will he get help?

That's a very good question Chuck. I remember when I took the ASVAB (got a 70 but punked out & didn't enlist) there was this guy next to me with the only bloodshot eyes like he smoked 24 hours straight before taking the test.

I will never say I haven't experimented in my day but I would hope that if I went for the army now & test positive for coke that the country would say, no thank you.

By all means and laws, just because you used in the past cannot keep you from joining and military service or JOB. As long as you are clean upon going onto the floor for the physical, you're good to go. And this is with any Job.

As a recruiter....we are just "Introducers" of the Military. We dont assign jobs. That happens up at MEPS. We just screen them to make sure they are clean so to not disqualify themselves.

Once in, BASIC Training kicks in and any idea of wanting to smoke a blunt is quickly SCARED OUT OF THEM. Hehehehe.

In the ARMY, You lose wages, Rank, and FREE Time when you get busted or come up HOT for ANY TYPE of ILLEGAL Drug.

And when I say FREE TIME. That is the Soldiers FREE TIme that is taken away. 3 things you dont screw with on a soldier. 1: PAY 2: FOOD and 3: FREE Time.

A Soldier's FREE Time starts at COB (Close of Business) 16:30 or 1700hrs (Depends on where you are stationed at.)
From 1700 till the next morning, the soldier is free to do as he/she pleases. Goes to school, hangs out with buddies, goes to the mall yadda yadda yadda.

Well, if they are on lock down due to Judicial or Article 15 Reprimand, they are put on "Extra Duty". 7(days pay)/7(days restriction), 14/14, 45/45
They end up cutting the grass, cleaning Battalion Headquarters (All by themselves) Cleaning up the Company areas. 1800-2300hrs (11pm) (EVERYDAY, Even sunday but after church services are complete.)
On top of that, they are busted down one Rank/Grade. (That there is a loss of pay by $200-$400 till they get promoted again.) Duration of time till they get promoted again? 6 months to a year.

Do they learn from their mistake? 98% do. The other 2% gets Chaptered out of the ARMY with a "Less the Honorable" or "General" discharge. A Discharge good enough so that they still can get a job flippin burgers and screeming "HOT FRY'S UP!!"
