freestyle in a come back

willie i agree with you i'm from miami and i know lots of people here that still listen to freestyle but the stupid radio stations don't play it here. i hear it on the stations once in a while so i think it needs to come back full force and not half ass like it's now. i've been talking to 93.1 here in miami which plays lots of trance and other stuff and told them to look into freestyle which i got an answer back their working on it.

WOW,

This thread is extremely depressing, I work for a large firm as a Contract Analyst. In a nut shell my job is to provide risk assessments for our finacial backers to insure minimal finacial loss. After reading this thread my wife thought I should look at this Genre from a business perspective. So I have; now granted I don't have all the statistics needed to give a full professional evaluation But, if a client lets say a (Record Label) were to ask me for an analysis based entirely on this thread, I would have to say...It would be an extremely foolish business venture. I know I'm no expert on the music industry but; sadly enough when it comes down to it, It's all about what makes the most financial sense. Within 80% of this thread Artist,Producers and even fans have spoke out against this Genre..Mabe it is time to let it go..as a fan this is hard to admit.. but it makes the most business sense for the Artist and producers.. especially the fans. Let the healing begin.. :sosad

Willie.

Belive me. I totally agree with what you are trying to get across to the artist old and new, but if there heart isn't in it anymore what are we to do?
I for one will continue to support Freestyle till the end and then some.. But I rather remember an artist that was proud and happy to do what they are doing then one who rather not be associated with it anymore. Yourself, Nyasia, and &More are all excellent artist but; it seem the business has taken it's toll and left some deep scars..I truly hope you guys continue to make music cause your great at it. As I feel about it all, the year could be 2030 and if you Nya, OR &More make a new Freestyle Cd I'LL STILL BUY IT..!!! :lol

wiliie, you commented on everyone's repsonse but mine, feelin a little left out here....

Well Scotman I feel that Freestyle is very radio Friendly. Its pop music. When I go out of state or speak to someone who just likes music and I show them my music they dont catagorize it. They think its just plain pop music.
Here are some examples of what I am talking about.

I had a meeting with the A&R director of BMG. I brought a cd containing Salsa, R&b, ballads, Hip hop and lastly Freestyle. I put the freestyle last to see his reaction. Let me tell you that he skimed through that cd very quickly. And when it came to a Synthia Figueroa Freestyle track he stopped and said, "This is cool, I like this, Bring me stuff like this". I was in shock. He didnt call it freestyle. He called it pop dance.

Ok heres another one. I was at the American Idol auditions with Synthia Figueroa. We were there for days. So I brought out her album to show the contestants and some producers of the show. Keep in mind that everyone and their mother was singing R&B there. When I played her cd everyone was like "Wow I like that, you produced that?, can you produce something like that for me?" Not one person called it freestyle or thought it was dated music. I ran out of business cards right there.

I think only when you approach a radio station and say you have a freestyle track is when they turn it down without a listen. If thats the fact. Lets just drop the name freestyle. Lets just call it pop or plain MUISC.

I feel there is still a market for this music. Maybe just not the name of it.

Willie, I couldn't agree more with you, it's the name that gives it the connotation of being "Outdated", thanks fot your response and continued success to you!

Like I said guys its still out their its just evolved like every other kind of music.
Like theirs no such thing as rap anymore. Its "Hip Hop".
Willie I admire your dedication and devotion to the industry. I think you should just keep doing what your doing and just let them label it whatever they want. In your heart you know what it is to you and at the end, as long as you get the results you want, who cares what BMG or whoever wants to label it.

I will keep doing it. I am working as I type. Lets just see what happens. I wish everyone luck in everything they do regardless. Hey Melissa i am on tomorrow at the station not today. LOL but thanks for the plug.

Let's face it: FREESTYLE needs a new sound. Thats the bottom line. We have to let the old sound "stay old" and concentrate on new, heart-throbbing, pulse-beating, mouth watering flavor!

It will also be a sad fact that "most" freestyle artists will not continue with the sounds we once loved. They want to perform & record music that will attract millions, not hundreds!

At the same time, we should not try to discourage the new school. They love the sound we all grew up and listened to. They are as big of fans of freestyle as the rest of us. Let's support them ALL!!!
