Hey people from the Bay Area. They finally brought Dance Music back on the Radio. It is on 92.7fm. Thank god. I was geting sick of that rap they had on that station. I don't know why they every took the dance music off anyhow. It is called Energy 92.7fm. Peace out!!

Shit energy radio expanded to Bay area I listen to it online. Its a great station.

Finally. I'm gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the info. I thought dance music in the bay area was non-existant until I went to the Love Parade in SF. I even gave up producing it cause there's really no more supprot for it here. Hopefully it will dominate the airwaves soon.

Im glad its back, even though its variety dance ......They do throw in classic and newer freestyle from time to time.

Any one in the bay know that pirate station in Milpitas?? They play freestyle almost every night.

I'm thinking it is 90.5 or 90.1fm but not sure... I remember someone was talking about it before but in Daly City I can't get the station. That's sucks...

92.7 FM goes live but no "Jack" it's Dance Dance Dance!
Link by Rick

All Access reports:

"Despite some technical glitches that pushed back the new format's debut just over a day, FLYING BEAR MEDIA, headed by former INFINITY/SAN FRANCISCO Dir./Sales JOE BAYLISS, dropped the cunning stunting it had begun on former Urban KBTB last THURSDAY (NET NEWS 9/30) and at around 7:10p (10/2) launched Top 40/Dance-formatted THE NEW ENERGY 92.7.

With programming assistance by NEXTMEDIA VP/Programming DON PARKER, and Imaging by WKTU/NEW YORK Imaging Dir. HARRY LEGG, THE NEW ENERGY 92.7 opened with BLACK BOX/Strike It Up into SHANNON/Let The Music Play, and then into a countdown of THE BAY AREA's TOP 500 DANCE SONGS OF ALL TIME. #500 was TKA/You're The One, and #499 was GEORGE MICHAEL/Amazing. No word on a PD or jocks, yet. More details on MONDAY from ALL ACCESS"

This is what I found out today....

Hopefully they get the station on how it was before.... This Top 500 is kinda wack...

thats cool, I guess top 500 dance is better then the KMEL part 2 Shit they had that took over the waves last year.

Hey Lillu, How do you know so much about that station, I wouldnt mind sending them a email or two.

I don't know that much about the station. I am a person who likes to switch from station to station for a good song. That is how I found out that they were comming back. Here is some more info I found.

Less than six months after KBTB (formerly KPTI) abandoned its dance format, it seems to have had second thoughts. As we tune in during its new format preview weekend (October 2, 2004), we get the feeling 92.7 will give dance another try. One encouraging sign is that it will no longer be a clone of WPYM Miami. The new KBTB is also playing the “correct” version of Gigi D’Agostino’s “I’ll Fly With You (L’Amour Toujours),” something we had pointed out on our Shake the Vote page a long time ago. We also heard Faithless on 92.7—finally. But will it play the likes of Kaskade, Benny Benassi, and Junior Senior in the future?

The opening weekend’s 500-song marathon (billed as the top 500 dance songs of all time) may be a promotional gimmick, but KBTB’s playing more different songs in 48 hours than KPTI ever did in its two-year history. As the archive below shows, the old KPTI played about 260 different titles in its lifetime (no wonder it sounded so repetitive). Since we don’t know exactly what the new KBTB will sound like in the coming weeks, we’ll try to remain positive. But when all is said and done, this station still needs to boost its signal in order to be competitive in the Bay Area.

If you don’t recognize some of the songs KBTB’s currently spinning during this preview period, you can, as always, write to us (you should look over the following archive first [don’t forget the reporting tips section] as well as click on Music Camp—some of the tracks on that page are now played on 92.7). Too bad 92.7 is no longer monitored by yes.net.

Dont know the site...but I do know its not a new station., its a old station brought back after only being pulled off the air for about a year.......Good sighnes for dance music, its popularity has always been underestimated and I think radio is starting to catch on. HIP HOP is played out and we now live in a world of fast cars , fast music, and fast living. the 64 impalla is no longer a match for todays Honda or Acura, and I think we will see a rise in dance music with a whole new breed of listners in the near future.

SooOOoOO True! Its the same with Wild 94.9 Work Out at Noon. You can Predict every Song they will play before they play it....Same Old - Same Old.

Don't worry guys, the station will evolve. The station has just been brought up, the incoming PD Chris Shebel has not even really taken the reigns yet. Often when a station starts they'll have lots of familiar music and a smaller library of music playing. Being a new station, it can be good to catch the listener's ears with good songs they recognize. Still, with the music they're playing now, I bet there's lots of people going "Damn I can't believe I just heard that song!" and they'll be catching new listener's tired of all the other stations. Once the PD and staff get into place, things will definitely change up. And with how Sacramento radio is right now, I'd love to have you guys send Energy down this way! :lol

Yeah, that sucks that a lot of the dance stations are gone. I was shocked when I found out that KTFM in San Antonio was closin' up shop. And in the Bay Area 94.9 hardly plays any dance music except for Jose Melendez. Jose and the Wild Workout @ Noon was already spoke upon but I'm just glad that he's still spinnin' freestyle on the air.
