Radio Personality : WCEV 1450 AM Chicago
Hey all...I have been thinking about writing a bit more than just an update article, but for now, here we go...
On Friday, August 10th, 2001, "Wake Up Dancing" was helped out thanks in part to contributions from the following...Tim, Latinoheat, Tim, Paresh, Makeyadance, Ashley, Jim, Vero and Delicious D.
At 6am, as always, a Freestyle mix by Chicago's Tony "Boom Boom" Badea. After setting the show up, I needed to go potty soI played the over 9 minute version of "Lady Marmalade" by the Four Divas. That was followed by:
Jennifer Lopez..."Let's Get Loud"
Nas-T-Boyz..."What I'm Feeling"
C-Bank..."I Won't Stop Loving You" (from Tommy Boy's Greatest Beats collection).
At 7am: Sperock..."I Want You Back"
Rockell and Collage..."Can't We Try" (can be found on the first "Masters of Freetyle" collection on Pandisc)
At this point Tim called on his trusty payphone and suggested that I play back to back cuts by a Freestyle artist. First a slow jam and then a Freestyle cut. That idea led me to play:
Tiana..."First True Love"
Tiana..."Without Dreams"
It was a nice experiment and one that I try to continue.
The show continued with:
TKA..."Crash" (featuring Seduction)
Brenda K. Starr..."Hold Me" (I just picked it up!)
Safire..."Don't Break My Heart-2002" (requested by Paresh)...by the way, what is Jimi Tunnell doing these days? The Safire backgrounds remind me of him.
Rosalinda..."Give Me All Your Love" (requested by Delicious D)
Dominitrix..."Dominitrix Sleeps Tonite" (for Jim)
At 8am, played the first part of my all new celebriy hotline conversation with Ashley. I wish I had the time to write transcripts for "CF", but not this time. It was a very interesting and enlightening conversation. During the segment, I played:
Ashley..."The Only One" (from Freestyle Generation Nex)
Ashley..."Quit Playing All Those Games" (from the Flipzide compilation)
Fred Nice..."More Than Anything" (also from the Flipzide compilation)
I do intend to review the Flipzide compilation. I have been impressed with Ashley and her cohorts.
After the interview, Nick Colon's "Release Me" was played by me and appreciated by Mr. Colon, who sent me a personal e-mail. Then we heard:
Cynthia's Mic Mac Medley
Judy Torres..."No Reason To Cry, 1997 version"
and Denine with "Tearshed '93".
All in all, a fun show though FreestyleKitty and RoGeReM had trouble logging on. Ashley and her friends made things worthwhile. I've now got new listener's in Conneticutt!
I Falling slowly...asleep. I'll review the show dated August 17th tomorrow morning...
Yawn,
Harv Roman
