The singles market in the U.S. is losing steam rapidly which makes my thoughts about asking first before d/l new material more pointed. Europe still seems to be doing ok with them.

I know I won't buy a CD anymore with songs I already have for 1 or 2 new songs. But I'd still like to see the artist make the sale.

hey bassy, i totally understand what you are saying, but unfortunately, i don't think the record companies much care about what the fans have to say, even though we are the ones buying up the product.

i'm a big fan of janet jackson and virgin only released three singles off her last album when there are clearly three or four more left that are worthy of single release. there's a petition going around on-line to release one, but i don't think it'll work. when a record company is done promoting an album, they are DONE. they don't want to incur any further costs without a basic guarantee that it'll pay off in the end. it's a frustrating state of affairs.

regarding 'can you stand the rain,' i'd love nothing more than for globestar to release a cd-single with all the new mixes, but since airplay on the single has already waned, it's doubtful it could sell enough copies (even if we all bought two) for globestar to recoup their investment.

i need to work for a label!!! by the way, i also like the new edition version of the song.

The House remixes and the Freestyle version from Chris S. are only available on a promo CD sent by Chris himself to few people. "Can you stand the rain" won't be the next single of Safire. I don't know why Globestar decided to do not release this great song? It's a mystery because few remixers already did some special versions for the supposed single. I heard that it would be "Eyes of a stranger", but things at Globestar records sems to change so fast that it's impossible to say what will be the next single of Safire? Anyway, I emailed couple of times Globestar or the Fan club...they never replied to me. So, no communication...means...no information!

I love the original version and am not usually a fan of remakes or covers but I really felt a great job was done on this one. I like Eyes of Stranger on that CD a lot too!

Francis no communication = no information but I'm hoping whatever comes next is awesome. Safire deserves more props on those tracks.
 
i like the New Edition version a lot too. but i like this Safire/Cynthia duet much better, u can bump it in the car! full blast! can't do that with the New Edition version
