I was backstage also last year, and the year before. I had a great time and all the freestyle acts went on as sceduled. I saw no problems whatsoever.

i went last year and had da bomb time! TKA had the crowd going crazy! when the legends of freestyle came out the crowd went out of control! i will be there this year again cuz im a big dance music lover as well as other styles of music....another thing i think "forever" is a hot album. "better than the rest" should and could still be a hit!
yo dan u down for beatstock again this year??

regardless of the fact...KTU is the only station playin' "FREESTYLE". and as vaguely as I can remember, I've heard TKA's only single out of their 'FOREVER' album, 'FEEL THE MUSIC' played on ktu radio...if i'm not mistaken..
yooo, wassup Marlon.
peaceouttie,

Even worse Tommy Boy had no money to contribute to TKA's album because there is no market for NEW freestyle music. There are the lovely fans we have at this website, and a couple freestyle fan belts scattered over various states, but even that doesn't make it worth it to put the same kind of money behind such a project. Sad but true
tybless, you say there is no market for a freestyle project, but your latest album filled with house, r&b and pop didn't really do anything. granted you may not have had a big promotional budget later on, but still most freestyle artists don't either. so why is there the thought that freestyle isn't worth it if a non-freestyle album can't make it? why do we assume there is no want for freestyle? safire & cynthia's "can you stand the rain" was freestyle and got airplay on probably around a dozen stations. even one top 40 station in california that plays little dance played that song. i think people are giving up on freestyle too early.

Not on the side barking out orders, playing the background. This is the reason why once TKA is disolved, as it will be very soon...I will use all the negativity you are spewing at me right now as rocket fuel to blast off on my own. I ride no one's coat tails!
i think you take one or two person's opinion's out there too seriously sometimes. there will always be people who don't like something you do, but realize it's not the majority. i wonder about the first version of "when will i c u" and some of the comments about it. sure there was a bad comment here and there from people, then the album version sounded different and it only seemed to have more complaints. i wonder if the initial complaints swayed you guys to change that version up? constructive criticism is good but if it is just coming from just a few, then maybe not as much attention should be paid to them. sometimes doing what you come up with first is the best. it may be hard but just don't let some of the people get to you, and good luck with whatever you do.

Okay, another b*tch azz, hiding under an assumed named because he or she (or both) didn't have the balls or courage (or both) to come at me under a real name that I would recognize. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother addressing such cowardess but since you are putting me out there, let's begin:

Wow Tybless, i would think a professional like yourself would take critism a little better ! You have no idea who I am, nor do I know you personally. I'm just an oldtime freestyle fan for many many years. Nothing I wrote was an attempt to bash you personally. I'm just stating my opinions.

Of course your ignorance would tell you that we do 2 shows for KTU a year but being an outsider you don't see the other 10 smaller shows we do for KTU and stations like KTU that ONLY want to milk TKA (and other freestyle artist) for what they were.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Just remember radio stations like KTU are keeping TKA's name out there. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Its 2002, if a station in Florida wants to include a freestyle group that hasn't had a hit song in 10 yrs in their show, you should jump on that plane as fast as possible !! Its caled marketing. Its called promoting. Its called keeping your name out there. Keep that good relationship with radio stations. Eventually when you guys come out with a QUALITY cd, radio will remember all those free shows u did.

You're trying to tell me that new cd was FREESTYLE??? I'm pretty sure I've read K7 brag that he wanted to do something different with this cd, and move away from freestyle. That cd has 2 freestyle tracks on it.

It has been such a rough career road for me, being a music manager, hip artist and producer. Management is a tough transition for a creature of creation like myself. I'm supposed to be on stage.
Not on the side barking out orders, playing the background.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sounds like you don't like your job. Why are you complaining to me about your chores as a manager? If you dont like your job, quit. Let TKA find a manger who will give them their 100% attention, not someone who is complaining he should be the one on stage. I have no idea why you are taking this so personal. I'm not trying to bash you. Never did i say you "ride people's coat tails", nor did i say you don't have talent. I wasn't even aware you are a singer/producer.

I'm So Sorry

I have deleted my previous and initial response to a cowards post because the coward in question, is still posting and hiding.

I have come to realize, a persons words in most negative situations is a reflection of his or her own personal dissatifaction or displeasures with him or herself.

Trying to hurt me as an individual was your mistake, me stooping, and coming to the fight was mine. This is me beggining to right all that is wrong with me.

So therefore I am taking full responsibility for mine. I can handle that. People have looked forward to having me here ready to spew venom at anyone for anything they have said that pisses me off. When in all due reality I shouldn't even be here talking about this.

Freestyle Truth, you have to understand yourself, whoever you are, before you decide to judge me. I made the mistake in thinking you were talking to me, when in reality your unhappiness is due to your own personal issues. I wish you luck with those. You gotta handle yours before you can even think about handling mine.

It's been real.

TyBless...
Calling people "Bitch Asses" is highly unprofessional in my opinion. As a manager or artists you have to understand this: Not everyone is going to like your music! Thats the fact, and you should accept this! Be open to people's criticisms....
Anyways... this is getting really out of hand now... Beatstock is gonna be hot! George Lammond, Johnny O, Cynthia, Judy Torres, Coro are reppin the freestyle at the show, and its gonna be slammin. In addition to all the hot trance/house acts there... wow... I can't wait!

Feel the Music was played on KTU when it first came out, i heard it several times during the day, not only during mixshows. I think it was a poor choice for a single... in my opinion... good song, but there are definitely better on the album.

Rhythm !!!!

I've been in the industry a long time and know most of the freestyle artists on a personal level. I worked for HOT 97 when they were a dance station, then the transition was made and walla born was KTU. I then decided to go on my own and opened up my production company Smooth Rhythm Productions. If you want to know more PM me. Every concert that I got to I'm backstage.

I been to the last 2 Beatstocks, and i thought they were fantastic. I'm hoping to be at this years show also with, or without TKA...lol 🙂

Smoothrhythm, who are you, and why were you backstage in the first place? I'm sure its very chaotic backstage to all kinds of shows.

Tybless !!!!

Hey Ty, don't get yourself stressed. You don't have to sit there and explain to these people what you are going through. We all know what the indusrty is all about and have been in this game for years. The behind the scenes shit and politics are so out of control that these people will never know what time it is until they experience it. I know that you are keeping it real, but don't let out too much information about you and the fellas if you know what I mean. Business is business and I know that you mean well, but be careful in what you say on this website. We don't want shit getting out of hand. I'll see you guys on the 19th at Sal's party. I'm in Vegas on Wednesday.

I read FreestyleTruth's primary comment towards TKA & CAMP as an insult, not criticism. This question has been asked before and its always the same, demeaning inquiries.

I understand another big name may drop out of the BEATSTOCK lineup and do as TKA is demanding.

Which artist????

Payola, demand vs. supply, etc are all part of the game. It has been for a very long time. Its not something that happened overnight. If you can't deal with it, and if you can't put up with it, why are you 'working' in the industry ? Sounds like you can't handle the work load of being a manager of a freestyle act. What would you have done in 1988 when TKA was at demand?? lol. I'm pretty sure being a manager of a freestyle act in 2002 sure is easier than it was when freestyle was popular. Once again, not a personal attack. Just a simple question. If you're gonna write all your complaints down on this site, you gotta expect us to talk and question you about it.

i dont recall it being part of the game back in the HOT 103/97 days. They were honest enough to play records from any label, wealthy or not. It will take time before KTU gets indicted.

When a group is hot, management is collecting a pay check. You think you know, but you have no idea.
