I very rarely start threads myself, so I must be pretty upset at some comments I read on a thread discussing Latinos in Hip Hop and how it relates to Freestyle. Some people mentioned that Beatnuts dissed TKA on their new Cd because they were jealous of TKA. I don't see the logic behind rappers who would at this very moment outsell TKA being jeoulous of them. Let's keep in mind that the Beatnuts after leaving Loud records are not on as big of a label right now as TKA is. Beatnuts would still out sell TKA and they would be doing the music that they are known for (underground style hip hop) NO POP! TKA on a big label (Tommy Boy) has to water down their music, ignore the feelings of freestyle fans, and make pop music could still not outsell Beatnuts. Let's also remember that currently, Beatnuts gets more love in the barrio than TKA especially after that disastrous "Forever" album back in 2001 as the Yankees and the true spirit of the Bronx was snaked by the snakes in the World Series. I know my feelings have a lot of merit and credibility as I like freestyle more than hip hop, but it upsets me to hear false propaganda. I have much more respect for artists that will always rep their genre of music over artists that would snake their original form of music in an effort to try to sell a few more records. If freestyle had more artists that were dedicated to it the way that the Beatnuts are dedicated to hip hop, freestyle would not have slipped as far as it has. I just think that a lot of people don't realize how damaging the effects of TKA's abandonment of freestyle really were for freestyle music. Kind of ironic because TKA played a huge hand in starting this whole thing.

I DONT THINK THE BEATNUTS ARE ANYWHERE JEALOUS OF TKA.THEY ARE AS EQUALLY AS GOOD. I LIKE HIP HOP AND FREESTYLE BOTH.😉

Oh Hell Nah.. LMAO Okay first I'm going to say that I understand that you are entitled to your opinion and I hope I don't offend anyone with mine....

1st I don't know who said what about the beatnuts being jelous of TKA but I will say that you are sadly mistaken if you think that TKA ABANDONED FREESTYLE, That's propaganda if you ask me. Where talking legends here, I don't give a damn if Forever didn't sell 10 copies these men have been in the game for the long haul.. Let me revert to another legend Johny O who's music change was even more drastic than that of TKA and still the love remains.. Not only are these men still performing but they have even added another incredible talent to their team George Lamond. The beatnuts are hip hop, why you have compared the two in the first place is beyond me. Although I don't doubt that you are a freestyle fan, Your obviously not at TKA/G fan. Maybe you feel you have to defend The beatnuts, thats fine, but remember who made the comment and the fact that TKA/G themselves arent stressing the Beatnuts.TKA/G are legends of Freestyle, why do you think that is, maybe you need to ask yourself that question. I also think that it is your opnion that they are more loved in the barrio, around my parts TKA is still the shit.If they make an album 10 more years from now, I know i'll buy it and so will a whole slew of other dedicated fans..

TKA helped define a musical era, With a tremendous track record including six Billboard hits including "Maria", "Louder Than Love", and "Come Get My Love". So maybe Forever is pop to you, still I feel they went back to their common musical roots with a completely updated sound, If that happens to be pop F**** it. This is why some artist leave the community entirely, they can't change the format even a hair because old school fans, even me at times, can't accept that music changes with the times. I'm sure the Beatnuts have changed it up some, Really I wouldn't know and I don't care. I give them props for bringing it to the table one more time and I can't wait to hear the next ish with G.Lamond.

Destiny11 yo go girl. I will always be a TKA freestyle fan to the end. and daaaasssss it!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love both..and the styles of music are so different it is not "in my opinion" even a discussion in comparison or whos better or a sellout.worth pursuing..

First things first here...

Destiny11, I got nothing but love for you girl. :spin

I just have one question type comment. I don't agree with the two being compared too, but I did read an interview with Abby and he said they were taking their music to a different direction. Now what that meant, I'm not exactly sure... will their album have Freestyle music on it?

Either way.. I'll be right there to buy it.

People should know to choose their words very selectively because they will get hurt if they dis our boys. (and girls) lol

Much Love,
Gina

Well put. Plus, you can't really compare a group who came out in the 80's to one that came out in the late 90's. Record sales and marketing directions evolved. Artists today sell much more than an artist from the 80's, in any genre. But even so, rap is just more popular today. Of course it will sell more.
