Hey what do you guys think of the Laws being Enforced to
Ban Cell phone Usage while Driving?... They are saying that
this Law is Definately going into Effect this summer!..At least
in Illinois...that i've heard..

Well... i think it's good..even tho i carry my cell in my car, i have
speaker n answer that way..or don't answer..while driving..
but some ppl are on their phone the whole time their driving..and
these ppl are paying no attention to traffic..and im so tired of telling
ppl off on the road cuz they're not noticing the simple rules of the road!

so i hope it goes thru..speaker phone n earphones are gonna still be ok..
just not Hand Held phones..

That law is already in effect in NYC, no hand held phones are allowed but I see cop's on their cell phones. I think im gonna call one of the those news show that exposes these thing. That shit is a hazard, get a phone with a damn speaker or headsets.

I don't agree with people driving and using the phone at the same time. Unless they have the earphone to go with it. Then that's cool. I have that. But when I was in Florida, I would see everyone holding the phone to their ears talking away. I find it distracting.

Yes Henny, that goes for Nextel's too. Just because it has D/C doesn't mean it's hands free. I have Nextel and I have a sprint phone. I use the earphones for both.

What's the difference if you're holding the phone...have the earpiece...or have the speaker phone?

You're still concentrating on the conversation and not your driving. Just my opinion.

Well Krys, I don't think it's the talking and driving that's distracting. I think it's the dialing the phone number, holding it on your ear that is. I drive fine with the earpiece while the phone is down on the seat. My hands are where they're supposed to be, on the steering wheel. 🙂

the best thing to do is avoid talking while youre driving..but if you must a handsfree or speaker phone should be used..staistically you are more of a danger holding a handset and talking on the road then a drunk driver..at least in some cases the drunk is trying hard to concentrate on the road so he doesnt get pulled over..while many cell phone users are oblivious to whats going on around them..how important is a call??? there was a case a few months back about a father who was on the phone with his wife asking about what video to get at blockbuster..he didnt see a red light went into the intersection and was struck by a truck.his 12 year old daughter who was sitting next to him was killed instantly...

How devastating.

Ya know i gotta agree w/Krystal...it's true your concentrating on
the conversation..most of all..cuz some ppl drive w/one hand..(i myself
do that too except when i turn.. i'll use both..) so it's not that you only
have one free hand on the wheel..but and even if your on the earpiece..
you may still not be paying attention.. or if you have the radio playing and the window closed..and an ambulance is approaching..you may not even hear that...cuz your listening to ya girl..or your boy on the earpiece..

That is really sad..cell phones are just a distraction...

There was a case here in chicago about a year ago..where someone was stopped by a Cop...out of routine..and the Cop (female)..feared that the
Women exiting her vehicle had a Gun in her hand...and she shot the Woman..
and killed her...She only had her Cell phone in her hand..so this Woman died for no reason..
