Am I the only one who is so SICK of B96!!!!!! what the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happened?????I mean do they even play the freestyle mixes anymore? I never hear em. I usaually fall asleep waiting around 2 or 3 in the morning on Friday and Saturday nights.Last time I listened to Tim Spinnin Schoomer it was House not freestyle! I mean I like House, Club, and Trance, but what about Freestyle? that sucks! and if I ever hear any freestyle mixes by Too Kool Chris, Its the same one every week. It sounds like its from his Freestyle Forever mix cd. Its good and all but what the hell? I turn on B96 even when their playin the street mixes and it Gangsta Rap.HUH???? Thats not dance music, thats Crap!"Chicago's DANCE beat"???? whatever. their daytime format too! like MTV without the Alternative Rock. Fagstreet Boys, that slut Brintey Spears, Pink, N'Suck, all that played out shit.UUUGGGHHH!!!! I remember when in the daytime theyed play Change On Me, In Paradise, Maria,Show Me, Temptaion, Look Into my Eyes, etc. then there good mixes on the weekends, House, Techno, and FREESTYLE Tim Spinnin Schommer "Boom"!! his mixes are the shit. I know theres now Energy 9275 but in my area it comes in like crap that suckx. What happedned to B96? I suggest that they change their little slogan.

angel.....

hey there my fellow illinoisian...

well its all true, everything you said, dont know how old you are, but unfortunately thats just how it all evolves...things go in stages...i know tim personally and he is a great guy, loves his freestyle. he grew up on it when he was spinnin' at local night clubs and he still loves it, but he has a job to do and must play and spin what is today, what is demanded and what b96 deems suitable im sure. they used to fully support freestyle back in its heyday and brought artists here for performances all the time, you knew that im sure. but with the change in audience comes a change in format. they just play what the numbers and requests say they need to play to stay competitive. i know if it was tims choice he would still spin freestyle like the old days. i agree with you, i listen less than i ever have as far as b96 is concerned, but you and i are in the minority. bottom line is they wouldnt play it if people where not listening to it. if the requests were there and the songs were strong then things would be different, but freestyle has fallen so deep here in chicago at b96 that it would take something really big to bring it back to their regular rotation. energy does have some freestyle in their rotation...and heres some advice too...even though you cannot pick up their signal very well, you could make a difference there by calling and emailing them to request freestyle songs....get your friends to do the same. if people wanna hear it, then they will play it. they didnt start out playing freestyle, but are now so this time is vital cuz you can see they are playing it and will look close to gauge interest. any time a station experiments like that it is of vital importance to get the support going at that time. i email and request at that station all the time, even if im not listening. we truly have a voice if we banded together and bombarded them with requests and gave them great feedback when they do play a freestyle cut...just as you might call and say, "please play this track"...its just as important to call or email and say "thanx for playing that track"

Mario

you are so right!!!!!!!!

Angel --Here in miami power 96 used to play alot of freestyle and then they stopped. WE MADE OUR VOICES HERD!! and they put freestyle back into rotation. And with the support of fans like US and making sure our voices are herd we will get Freestyle Music into rotation. Here Power 96 there is support for freestyle but we have a major absicle which is the program director😱 But we keep fighting. Like mario said email call and let your voice be herd. We even have a second radio station playing freestyle now. so you never know what can happen.

Elear- sweetie come on lets be posotive now bring people down we are here to support not being people down.

Elear, i agree 100%. People on this board complain like crazy that KTU doesn't play newer freestyle. What NEW freesyle songs should KTU be playing ????????

All the new freestyle is WACK and doesnt belong on radio. People on this board blame radio,dj's, everybody except the music itself

Clubgirl, how can we be positive if there is nothing to be positive about ? Freestyle has been like this for 8 years. How long you gonna keep complaining to radio and acting as if freestyle has quality music out there. You can call all u want. Post and cry on here all you want. But until we have freesyle music like we used to back in the day, nobody is gonna listen to u except these fellow fans. Freestyle isn't taken seriously no more.

I guess this is a great time to review Canadian and German successes with freestyle. Most pressed tracks are of commercial/radio quality productions and have greater potential to evolve the sound into the mainstream without turning off the dials like what's on KTU on many of the plays (with the exception of the very few great tracks safire/cynthia track or ford feat. noel and a selct very few others if they ever play them).

Great examples of those recent successes in 2001 include Freda "Dreaming of tonite & promise to stay", Lil Suzy "Treat Me Right", Kathy Phillips "I Wish", Sweet TB "Let Me Fly", Elissa "Back to me" , Rockell "what u did 2 me", Gigi D'Agostino "L'amour Toujours" and many more.

Indie labels and producers should think twice to press a product with cheezy vocals and instrumentations. If this junk gets airplay then we are going to be in a worse position then in the early 90's and freestyle will be eliminated for good this time as younger britney generations do not know the glory days of the 80's.

Thank god that evolving or reccuring planet rock, breakbeat, electro, 2 step and other newer subgenres of freestyle are making headway outside the US and around the world like in Canada, Germany and Brazil to give freestyle some new fans, branded artists and much needed major label exposure.

Robbie

I understand what you are saying but unlike many people in here the reason people hear me is because I give them what they want!! I am the person who confronted TKA on diffrent issues brought up in diffrent posts in here plus the ones they themselves have made. And I am also out there day and night talking to diffrent people and getting into the radio station director(S) when and were I can. One of the major reason certain stations play freestyle is cause of people like me. I do it for the love of the music and what it represents. With that said let me make a huge point. Many artist that we used to listen to some are not around or have gone in diffrent directions. So when and how are we going to get freestyle the way we used to?? Thats when certain artist return to there roots OR When a huge freestyle act makes a impact and inovates and reminds the other artists of there roots and that time is coming with Johnny O's new album. I have herd his new material and its pure quality coming from his heart. So watch out for that!! I am sick and tired of hearing complaning the truth is that the people who complain the most do the least amount of work. And I dont complain I am out there in my spare time doing what I can to have radio stations down here in south fla play freestyle in there rotations instead of complainng.

More Power to U ClubGirl...Keep Doin What Ur Doin...U Know it's Appreciated....Fu** Those Who Go Against U.

But....Being Said " The Album Is Comming From The Heart " The Same Thing Was Said About TKA's Album. U know What Im Saying?
I Know 110% Fact It Was No Where Near From Thier Heart.

Listen 2 The Way They Harmonized In Thier Original Stuff...The Way The Melodies Were So Smooth And So God Damn Good That U Can listen 2 It Over And Over.
U know What Im Saying Hopefully.
And I Don't Want To Hear From ANYONE That We Have 2 Keep Up With The Times...Cuz Thats A Bunch Of Bullsh*t And Ur Lying 2 Urselves If U Think That.

elear

I agree with you 200 % with what you are sayng. What I can say about JohnnyO's material is that he did stay true to his roots 300% and I know in here there have been alot said about TKA but yes its a good album but im my opinion not 100% true to there roots and I havent said to much either way on it cause I am torn with the issue. But Johnny O is staying true to his roots and to all of us who have been waiting and working hard the gates to heavens doors will open I have said it time and time again. I have herd it calling when I herd johnny's new material. And for all who complain and say freestyle is dead johnny O's new material will shut you up. I had the chance to hear it first hand 1 with him and a second at a club and the crowd went into shock cause everyone who has herd the new material says nothing but praises cause its true to freestyle and it sounds great!! what I do is not for recognition I do it for the love of the music. I love singing freestyle and one day and maybe one day I can record it. But I would do it and I do what I do for the love of the music.

PS- thank you for your support elear its nice to know that its appreciated.

You say all the new freestyle is wack...hmmmm let me see what have you bought lately? You come in here and diss all the new freestylers, well i'm one who will say something, being in this here ball game for 15 years and counting. We all have views and I will say yeah maybe certain groups of artists, promoters, producers, management, and labels drown freestyle, but for all of those a few artists aren't going to blame. Your trashing all for a couple.

Your right Freestyle isn't taken serious, but music have to change regardless of what you think, Latin Hiphop, Club Music, and now freestyle have change through out the years, your going to tell me that you still dress up in your 80's cloathing? i think not, so don't expect for anybody to come back and party like if this generation has just started. I wish it was early 80's and early 90's. Thats when Music In general was the $#!T!!!! Not all the bull crap thats out now.

KTU should be playing new freestyle, everybody expect to hear and see them perform like Johnny O, Coro, George Lamond, & More, TKA, Nyasia, Cynthia, Safire, Body & Style, EXO and many other oldschoolers to do the same freaking song every time they go up, is cool Let them do one or 2 songs from back and the days, but also let them do their new stuff.
Has KTu Play them NO and if they have they only have play either in mixes or like in Safire's case only for a little while. So please don't say it has to be like the 80's because is not. There's plenty of very talented Artists who have what it take, yet do not get their props or get push back for those that are not good to be there from the get go.
So before you insult anyone please becareful and check out the facts first...
