MACHIQUES, Venezuela - A chartered jet filled with tourists returning home to the French Caribbean island of Martinique crashed Tuesday in western Venezuela, killing all 160 people on board. The pilot had been attempting an emergency landing after both engines failed, officials said. Wreckage was strewn across a remote wooded area among cattle ranches near Machiques, 400 miles west of Caracas near the border with Colombia just east of the Sierra de Perija mountain range.

Oh man....this is soooo wrong.

Isn't this the 4th or 5th wreck in the past few months????

My prayers to those poor people, and their families.

Yes and the 2nd in as many weeks...what's goin on with this! U would think they would check the planes especially after what happened last week....my God.....🙁

According to prededictions, these are all accurate with more to come. and one will lead to the death of a "Queen". ...but you didnt hear that from me (Something I read online)

omg, makes ya not want to fly anymore....kind of scary...how tragic.
well I would definitely not fly on those rinky-dink foreign airlines that's for sure...although there are worldwide aviation codes I believe the US airlines take them more seriously and and they have much stricter codes and are pretty safe.

I don't believe in that "Nostradamus" nonsense... and as for the "death of a Queen" - I don't believe Michael Jackson is scheduled to fly anywhere in the near future.

bwahahah!!! :lol

I dont believe in none of that bullshit either lmaoo

Dudes when is the whole thing is going to stop? I mean damn this shit is getting old already I think that they should start giving up.

I remember I was trippin when I got on a plane a week after the TWA thing back in 96...I also heard something on the news not too long ago that customers have the right to ask the following questions:

1. How old is the specific model of plane that I am flying on?
2. Has this specific plane been in any accidents?
3. Has this plane been recently checked?
4. How much experience does my pilot have?

Whenever I fly I am very observant of the plane and the crew..and I always make sure that I get the window seat next to the wing, cause if I see a single spark I'm letting the pilot know.

Yeah now im gonna be afraid of flying when I go to Cuba in November I dunno but that things they do are serious once they keep doing that we are not gonna have any people left and they should stop doing that

Brklyn345 - you have nothing to worry about - first of all, I have done a lot of research into this subject. I am not crazy about flying, but I'll be damned if I am going to be stuck my whole life in New York because of it - so I decided to do some serious research.

1. First of all, age has nothing to do with safety - ALL airplane parts have a certain lifespan - they are replaced on a REGULAR basis with brand new parts - so an airplane that is 30 years old can in effect be as "new" as an airplane right off the assembly line.

2. The only specific accident the plane could have possibly been on would be a small runway fender bender - I doubt if a plane was in any kind of serious accident it would be good for anything but spare parts!

3. ALL planes have been recently checked - while you are waiting at the gate to board a flight, not only is maintenance being done on the plane, the pilots are checking everything over to make sure it is all in proper working order. If there is any mechanical problem they would take that plane out of service until it is fixed.

4. I cannot vouch for foreign pilots, but all the Domestic US Airlines have pilots that have to have a certain type of certification, a HUGE number of hours logged in flight and many of them have come from long careers with the Air Force and other major well respected and well trained agencies. It's not like getting a license at the DMV and becoming a bus driver - airlines are very VERY strict with pilot specifications and the jobs are very highly sought after because they do not become available very often.

It just concerns me Damian...back in 2002 I flew US air shuttle out of LaGuardia to Reagan National....and as soon as they let the people off coming from DC they let us on...I don't even think it took ten minutes.
