I dont usually listen to Stevie B but I just happened to hear a track by him on a compilation (zyx music) called Freestyle Vol. 11. In it contained a track he did (that I consider recent despite of all the freestyle songs in the 80's that are worshipped today) called "i'm in love with you". This song to me is original and has direction. It is in no way biting off any other styles and is very catchy. It is also following todays appeal in sound. And when I say it's freestyle, believe me, it is Freestyle. I liked this track the first time I heard it surprisingly. This is the type of music that we need for freestyle to make a strong comeback. Now I dont care about what Stevie's done to make people not want to talk or comment about him but this is one true freestyle song. 🙂 I'm in this for the music.

Believe it or not, I agree with you about Stevie B's "I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU". I thought it was pretty solid track the first I heard it on the same ZYX Compilation...Even though I consider the overall sound of the song to be leaning towards the West Coast/Progressive style it is still a good example of how that format can sound good and original if done properly!

My favourite more recent track of Stevie that I find identifies with freestyle is "You are the one (planet hype edit)". When I brainwash new people to the style (works best on a long drive in my car); it always does the trick hehe.

As my quote, "passion will make the style light up again." If not, then leave this music alone.

I have always said that one must possess passion for Freestyle in order to record a Freestyle. If the passion is not there, then why even bother. I have heard too many passion-less songs over the last decade that have heped to hurt out music's reputation!

BassBump - FYI: "YOU ARE THE ONE" was a remake (a pretty decent remake, but a remake none the less) of the same song by Count To Twenty.
