NJ Nets center and Georgetown Alum; Alonzo Morning is forced into retirement after learing of the bad direction his kidney illess has turned. Doctors told him that he has to quit the game and in need of a kidney transplant. He was diagnosed with this kidney disease three years ago.

Alonzo Morning was drafted from Georgetown in 1992 by The Charlotte Hornets. He was traded to The Miami Heat in 1995. he played there til early this year when he signned to play with The Nets.

Yeah he's at a very dangerous stage of this disease. Even if he gets a new kidney, it doesn't mean he's out of the woods. His body can reject that kidney. Then these people in need of transplants have to undergo dialysis which makes them feel more sick. It's sad. Well I hope all goes well and that he can recover after receiving a new kidney.

Im a huge basketball fan..Being a Miami Heat season ticket holder for the past 7 yrs here in Miami where Zo played we know of his illness very well.. However, 3 yrs ago when he was diagnosed with it, he shoulda stepped down. When Pat put him back in the line up at the end of that season you can tell that he was NOT his normal self..Im not even sure why the Nets picked him up knowing of his ailment and the fact that the last 2 seasons he's been out of play. Its sad..but sometimes these guys think that they are larger than life and dont take care of themselves...Money and fame doesn buy everything.. I love Zo.. and he needs to concentrate on his health and his family! Nothing else in life is that important!
