TO ALL THE RECORD LABELS, MANAGERS, AND WHO EVER ELSI IS INVOLVED.... YOU GUYS MUST HELP BRING BACK FREESTYLE. EVERY TIME I GO TO A STORE THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANY NEW FREESTYLE AT ALL. I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS IN DMA MAGAZINE AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. A LOT OF STORES OUT THERE STILL DON'T HAVE THE SA-FIRE ALBUM OR EVEN THE NOEL OR FORD F/NOEL SINGLE AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE RETURN OF T.K.A. HOW PATHETIC IS THAT?

I BET A LOT OF STORES WHO KNEW ABOUT THIS STUFF WOULD GLADLY STOCK A FEW AND THEN WITH ALL THE PEOPLE ASKING FOR THEM THEY CAN FIND IT. ALSO THEY NEED TO PAY OFF THE RADIO STATIONS, THAT HELPS ALSO. HOW THE HELL COULD HALF THE ARTISTS OUT THERE EVEN GET THEIR SONGS PLAYED WITH OUT PAYOFFS. SORRY MARIAH, BRITNEY, N-SYN AND SO ON BUT IT'S TRUE.

I hate to say this but here in SAT we haven't gotten the Safire 2002 single. I asked the one & only record store here that carries 12" & they said they haven't came across it. They will order it cos they carry everything & the guy that orders knows Freestyle as well. But I ask him when are youse going to get it in & he says whenever it comes up.

Now I myself have emailed & called Globestar to ask them about buying a box, you know 25 or 30 records, so that i can bring them here to TX & my calls go unanswered. So I BLAME the labels for not being on the ball.

I am not badmouthing Globestar nor any other label. All I am saying is that product is in demand & they ain't hustling it. Guess they don't need the money.

Think about Juan V who is in Nashville TN. That guy is asking for MP3's of these songs cos they will never see the light of day in TN.

MAKE YA DANCE SEE WHAT I MEAN?
MY GUY AT THE RECORD STORE WHERE I SHOP HAS A MONTHLY BOOK THAT LISTS ALL THE MUSIC AND SINGLES THAT COME OUT EVERY MONTH AND THERE IS NO LISTING AT ALL FOR ANYTHING. I SPOKE TO HIM TODAY AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO GET SA-FIRE IN A FEW DAYS. HE ALSO SAID HE SHOULD BE GETTING A NEW BOOK AT THE END OF THE WEEK. I ALSO ASKED HIM (SINCE HE WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN THE VINYL FOR THE NEW T.K.A.) DOES HE HAVE ANY INFO ON THE NEW ALBUM AND HE SAID NO.

I FEEL SORRY FOR HIM. THE WORST PART OF IT IS THAT SOMETIMES THE SMALLER STORES GET THE MUSIC BEFORE THE BIG CHAINS DO. THE SMALLER STORES ORDER THROUOGH MIDDLE MEN ALSO.

Like I said bro it isn't the record stores that are not willing to carry it. It's the label not pushing it. I'm not saying for them to call every record store, I'm saying that they need to have more distributors distributing their product. But then again for the most part, these record stores deal direct with the label to save.

THATS IT WE NEED TO GET ON THE DISTRIBUTORS ASS. BUT CAN'T THE ARTISTS HAVE A SAY ON THAT?

Hmmm, I think it would depend on how much "pull" the given artist(s) has(ve) - but there's always online!

I STILL THINK THAT THE ARTISTS CAN SELF PROMOTE A LITTLE. THEY SHOULD HAVE IT IN THEIR CONTRACT THAT THE COMPANY WILL PROMOTE THEM. THEN THE ARTISTS SHOULD GO OUT ON THEIR OWN SINCE THEY ARE REALLY UNKNOWN AND CHECK OUT WHICH STORES HAVE THEIR PRODUCT AND WHO DOSEN'T AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Give BLOOD!!! Kenny that is a little too extreme. But leaving it all in the hands of the label is proving too little at this point. Sometimes ya have to bang on the door harder!

THERES ONLY SO MUCH AN ARTIST CAN DO WITH THE RECORD COMPANY. THEY SOMETIMES DONT HAVE MUCH SAY IN ANYTHING. THEY ARE JUST HAPPY TO RECORD THE SONG. THE ARTIST DOES ENOUGH, IN MY OPINION.

Kaos, I love the use of doorbells - it's the easy way in and ya dont have to worry about nail breaking. Sometimes ya have to be just a little bit "hungry" for it and go outside the box is all I'm saying.

Maybe that's the problem Kenny. It's a good point. They are just happy to having a record out there 🙁 Then it's really sad that you can't find the record in the stores or hear it on the radio!

at this point, i dont think its up to the record company but up to the stores. if they dont want it or no one comes in and puts up a demand, they wont bother. i am glad in my area thjey still have freestyle sections. i walked into my local SAM GOODY and they had CYNTHIA, JOHNNY O, LIL SUZY and oodles of other goodies.

Kenny how do you figure it's up to the stores. Are the stores supposed to keep tabs on every label? I think not. It's the labels job to push their music. Ain't nobody funna know what's new if nobody pushes it. Let me ask you sumptin. Does you NY stores have Daisey's latest single?

the stores receive lists of upcoming cds all the time. sure, the record labels send out promos, posters, etc. to hype up the artist but think about this, if RECORD COMPANY X sends 100 copies of a freestyle artist to a SAM GOODY, then the store sells nothing, they have to return the unsold inventory. basic law of "supply & demand". they have to eat the loss. so, instead of doing that, they make smalls shipments and upon demand, increase productivity. the record industry is a big gamble sometimes.

a record company can tell a music store how great there product is but without something to stand by it (again.....demands by the consumer, radio airplay, etc) the stores just wont be convinced.

as for DAISEY'S album, we may have it. again, upon request. it the performer is worthy and gets enough recognition, the stores will carry it. but alas, singles are more common and cheaper to produce so we may very have the single, somewhere.
