On an episode of VH1's : I Love The 80's, actress Juliette Lewis gave huge props to Lisa Lisa. She also mentions that she was into her old(84/85) stuff like Take Me Home and Can Yo Feel The beat!!. That's awesome there. Hollywood giving Freestyle props 😉

Mike4949 Wazzz up! Thanks for the info you bring us.
That's cool to hear.

don't be too surprise, plenty of celebrities love the freestyle sound. freestyle music was very popular on mainstream radio.

i remember seeing a poster of lisa lisa on an episode of "facts of life", and a poster of safire on an episode of "head of the class".

freestyle was happening!

I'm glad to see people finally get it!! Freestyle was a big part of 80's culture. TKA were as big of 80's icons as Poison(TKA never wore as much hairspray as Brett Michaels!!LOL). Lisa Lisa was way better than Tiffany and Debbie combined. 😉

the bigger names in freestyle especially the ones that had their music crossover on the the billboard hot 100 charts such as safire, sweet sensation, cover girls, stevie b really made a name for themselves. especially since these above mention and a few others had several music videos to give them even more exposure.

im sure if these artist were "allow" to stay on the scene much longer, they would be mentioned more often retro shows, etc....

yeah its cool cuz her fans may wanna know wut shes talking about and check it out

I remember when I was little always hearing about TKA. I was always like "Whos TKA???!!!" i know now. lol

I also remember seeing a poster of stevie b in Save by the bell, it was in Ac slaters room waaaaaay back in the day.

Did you all see Lisa Lisa on the VH1 80s show? I think she was there for 87 or 88, talking about Terence Trent D'Arby and Tetris. Everyone loves Lisa Lisa!! 🙂

By the way, TKA's "You are the one" was featured in "Lean on Me" starring Morgan Freeman.

I admit I have a crush on Punky Brewster 2K2 (Soleil Moon Frye is beautiful)!!!

i got super trashed with soleli moon frye (punky) back in 94 at this club called tunnel in NYC. she was a blast to hang out with and big party animal! it was so much fun!
