Hey DJ buddies:

Here's a question for you. What procedure or program (if any) is used to "normalize" a song after it is aquired?

To Normalize means to adjust the volume level, and perhaps various other characteristics of the sound quality to be in-line with the rest of your music previously normalized. Also included, would be the calculation of BPM.

I guess this would apply only to PC based mixing and recording.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use Sound Forge to 'normalize' the music, thats if you HAVE to normalize. You really shouldn't have to normalize that much...MIC MAC isn't making anything new, so most of the music nowadays is already normalized.....LOL

There is a plug in for winamp that allows u to adjust the pitch control of the beat.

Yup, doncha hate that within the MicMac vinyl, there are different volume levels? And most of them are weak. When I turn up the levels, I get two things: feedback and louder scratches.

The worst mixdown in a 12" record has got to be HeartBrake "Never Stop Loving You." Sounds like it's coming out of my clock radio. The EQ can't adequately fix it.
