Which song is considered to be the first ever freestyle song, pure 100% freestyle, not dance, trance, techno or any other kind, but strictly freestyle, the song that started everything? Is there an answer for that? Thanx!:blah

peeps up in here still can't agree if certain early songs are freestyle or not without taking it personally....... and that's the real question...... regardless here are my thoughts.....

- Play At Your Own Risk (1982) not freestyle..... electro so no...
- One More Shot (1982) not really freestyle more early 80's dance
- When I Hear Music or IOU possibly????? (1983)
- Let The Music Play / Release Yourself / I Wonder If I Take You Home / If This Aint Love...... (1984) possibilities
- Point Of No Return / Funky Little Beat (1985)???????
- now the earliest songs with the classic freestyle sound I can think of off hand might be Stop Playing On Me or Picking Up Pieces or On The Upside (1985)???????? 🙂

:bangbang Ohh Sh*t..highly controversial question. Everyone puts in their two cents. Opinions differ greatly as to what was the first song, who planted the seeds so on and so forth.Kraftwerk? Alisha? Afrika Bambatta? Freeze? CBank?? Hmmmm Well let's see Cbank's "I won't stop loving you"(definitley 100%) was mentioned for 86' but then again Sequal came out with "It's not too late" (also 100% Freestyle) in 85,before that there was Shannon, etc etc. I think the answer to your question depends on what you personally define the sound as. I know what mine is ,what's yours?
:blah to all who oppose

Afrika Bambatta is more like the start of street rap

imo, Afrika Bambataa, Kraftwerk and Shannon amongst others.

...even though I always thought it was one of Stevie B.'s songs...oh well, guess I was wrong! 🙁

I always say "Please Don't Go," and I'm sticking with it. 🙂

"Don't You Want Me Baby"- Human League

"IOU"- I forgot that dudes name

"All Night Long"- WISH ft. Fonda Rae

"Vicious Beat"- Brenda K Starr

Tina B.....I mean just watch Beat Street- that was the soundtrack to NYC back in 1983!

Then, C-Bank, Nayobe, Lisa Lisa, and Madonna definitely helped!
