I have always been and are an avid fan of American music even though I was born in Puerto Rico-home of the Salsa music=which I hated and still dislike. So the first freestyle record I bought was The Mexican-Jellybean Benitez. So I developed a passion for the style. After that, these are the first 12" records I bought and are still part of my collection:
Let the Music Play-Shannon
Give me tonight-Shannon
Honey to a bee- Tina B
Baby Talk-Alisha
All night long- Alisha

Oh jeez, what year was "IOU"? I think it was 1983. I can remember sitting in Spanish class in the 10th grade, singing it to Yolanda who sat in the next row from me...

I remember back in the 80's, Brenda K Starr was performing at "Levels" on Long Island, but I was only 15 or 16 at the time and I wasnt old enough to get in the club. So I waited outside all night just to see if I could catch a glimpse of Brenda. I caught her getting into a limo and she signed an autograph for me. Levels was a popular club at that time and I saw Johnny O perform there as well as Sweet Sensation, Cynthia and Cover Girls. I also remember going to the club "Nylons" on Long Island to see India perform in 1990. I met the Nas-T-Boyz in Nylons parking lot another time. They were hanging out of their limo asking if anybody sells weed LOL.

It came out in 82' on Arthur Baker's Street Wise Label. The following year, Pop Goes Your Love by Freez (aka John Rocca) was released. Great songs!
