Great song, but I definately would not consider that Freestyle. I remember when that song came out, I was in probably 10th, 11th grade (!!!!!!) and I'm pretty sure it was before Freestyle got hot.

Interesting but you can't use that as a reason not to consider it freestyle..... "I.O.U.", "One More Shot", "I Wonder If I Take You Home", "When I Hear Music", "Give Me Tonight", etc, etc all came out a year or 2 or 3 or 4 before anyone knew what freestyle was..... 🙂

WOW, AFTER LISTEN TO THE RECORD, AND REALLY GOING THROUGH IT IN DETAIL, I HAVE TO SAY THE MUSIC IS FREESTYLE BOUND, THE VOCALS ARE DEBATEABLE, I DO FEEL IT WOULD FIT IN TO A FREESTYLE SET, AS FAR AS CALLING IT HIP HOP IN IT'S EARLY STAGES, I DISAGREE, I CHANGED MY MIND I AM GONNA CALL IT A GOOD DANCE RECORD WITH THAT CLASSIC SHANNON SOUND TO IT(FREESTYLE).............

Here is my take on this song. This song could be in the same category as "Wanna be starting something" by Michael Jackson, or "Jungle Love" by Morris day and the Time, something on those lines. We all know that Michael Jackson isn't freestyle neither is Morris Day. Its a stretch to compare those songs but thats how I see it. So too me its not freestyle.

yoooooo little brother came out at a time when freestyle was in its infancy..but still its an early hip hop song more then anything..i love this song always have..but its early hip hop..in the same class as the fat boys and beat street era grand master flash!! not in the same class as the nasty boys or tka which where just starting out at that time..period..its got the early aleem flavor ("release your self" and "confusion"..which both songs where boderline hip hop early freestyle ( had many dance battles to both in the days when i was a mean breakdancer/ gladiator.. and kenny i know you heard of lez jerdanz in babylon despite being a few years younger then me.. where my crew used to bring havoc from brentwood/bayshore...and hated upon!!!but its more hip hop) i grew up in that era so i definetly know the difference..surprised that p diddy hasnt yet made a remix of yo little brother..

sorry to disappoint you BUT I received news from a very reliable source that THE SONG IS NOT FREESTYLE. Until "that person" posts, take my word......ITS NOT FREESTYLE.
