Freestyle music has come and gone but can it ever come back and have the same influence and style that made it so widly popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Back in the day freestyle was the sound of the time and alot of latin artist were topping the charts with the catchy sound of break beats and melodic vocals. Also alot of so called mainstream artist of the time used freestyle elements in their music such as Madonna "get into the groove" and others.
For me i think it can but its going to take someone real special to breakthrough from the underground and make a hit thats played on mainstream radio and have a video thats played on mtv, bet, and vh1.
Also the music needs to expand the sound that we all love from the old skool such as tka, cover girls ,etc to the new skool such as lissette melendes, corina, etc.
Lets take a look at whats dominating the charts today and its hip hop and r&b, which I like but i get the sense that if something new or brought back from the past like freestyle would come that it can be a sensantion, all over again. Freestyle and the dance/pop genre have cooled over the years. I mean when the last a purely dance artist topped the charts?
Obviously this is a conversation that has probably been repeated over and over in here but tell me what you think about how freestyle can come back.
