For JOHNNY BUDZ & MARK LUV'S CYNTHIA!

Johhny and Mark the Jennifer Lopez mixes are psuedo freestyle not freestyle they just sound freestyle like Jaci Velasquez "Everytime I Fall",Nsync "Bye Bye Bye" & "I want you back",Jennifer Lopez "Waiting For Tonight",Sonique "Feels So Good",Racheal Lampa "Shaken" and Makaila "So in love with 2" they are dance pop songs that are simular to feestyle but not really freestyle instead they have freestyle elements.I have heard of freestyle remixes of Jennifer Lopez's hits by local dj's that spin freestyle here at the dance clubs in Tampa Bay & the rest of Florida besides them the disc jokeys at Florida's Latin music stations like la mega & tropical 680 here in Tampa but those am stations.I believe you can find rare freestyle mixes of alot of Latin pop songs,r&b songs and euro dance songs at majesticsounds.com wich gives you the hottest new Latino dance music and mixes including rare freestyle mixes to all dj's,radio, club or mobile. The adrees is http://www.majesticsounds.com and as far as the rerelease Captain Hollywood Project mixes of "More and More" i only see it as a special rereleased single at 711,Walgreens,Walmart,MART,Target and a gas station and car wash near you that have those special market CDs you only find when you are traveling on the inter state, the rereleae of NO MERCY "WHERE DO YOU GO" & LOS DEL RIO "MACARENA" is said to be selling well as I've beeen told by those stores and remember some of those CDs are not the rereleased version but the actual version from the 90's just dust it off and you got a brand new CD,the original version and the rereleased version sometimes have different mixes on them.Well that's all fo now.GOD Bless,Omar 🙂

THIS IS WHAT I THINK................Well I guess its great to hear ratings are higher than ever for the 9-11 hours and not so great to hear ratings are down for the mix hour. Well guys, this is the problem that we've been facing for the longest time, and here it is staring us in the face once again....The 9-11 hours have shown us there is a LEGION of freestyle fans who tune in consistently to hear all the songs us diehard fans roll our eyes at (admit it, as much as you love "Spring Love" you know you still roll your eyes at it!!). Also, look at Bad Boy Joe's CD...STILL on the Billboard Independant Albums chart and doing VERY well in regional sales according to soundscan. But apparantly, this legion of average freestyle fans, who like freestyle enough to buy Bad Boy Joe's CD and listen to Judy every weekend have turned a deaf ear to Johnny Budz' mix of lesser known and new school tracks......Now let's think logically.....Theres no reason whatsoever that these "average" fans shouldn't like newer stuff or rarer stuff....but apparantly, they are very quick to dismiss songs they don't know, especially back to back in a mixshow format. Personally, I think the best bet would be to take the time during Judy's show....Maybe 2 songs out of the dozen or so songs she plays an hour, and give those slots to something lesser known or even new school....A good stepping stone would be to use lesser known songs by well known artists....I know Judy does do this occasionally...Maybe once she'll say something about "the freestyle vault...this is an old one we haven't heard in a long time".......But I think the key is expose these songs by slipping them in in between the classics we all know and love. Doing something like having Willie Valentin in the studio to plug his album is also a great idea....There has to be a sensible way to expose average listeners to the lesser known stuff without alienating their taste for the classics....How do you think new songs get play on the radio? Last month, NOBODY except people who go to clubs knew "Sandstorm"....Now everybody and their mother knows it.....Anybody else got any bright ideas?

I think that is a great idea. Will it work? We won't know until it is tested. Certainly, having Judy throw in a positive comment about the song about to be played would help. You, as well as everyone else, knows the problem...you said it simple....the average freestlye listener does not want to hear something unfamiliar.....EVERYONE....look at these examples I expereienced first-hand: My best friend was with me a few months back. I was driving and had a CD on that I made. "For always mine" by Menage came on...within a minute or so he said "Who the hell is this NOEL wanna be" !!!! I grilled him for it...but with no sucess!! ANOTHER EXAMPLE: Missing your love came on....my other friend was with me (this is another time)....He was like "This is an annoying song...what the hell is it??" !!!!! This has happened numorous times with my friends who "love" freestyle....Many freestylers just don't want to hear something unfamiliar...it's that simple...no mystery to it...However, the idea James suggested may help...if KTU tries it....FOr now be happy "we" appreciate it, unlike our "other" freestyle followers....LATER!!! 😛

I was visting NYC from the UK recently and heard your show.
I liked it!
Old Skool rocks!

(but i think you shoud throw in some new skool too!).
Now that would be a mix!

James and Antony...u both have valid points. I don't disagree with them. But like i said in a previous post in this thread, the 9-11 hrs are doing better than ever, they're not gonna touch it.

UK Freestyle.....LOL.thanks very much for the compliment. Ummmmm I do play newer freestyle though. My Sunday show is a blend of new and old school freestyle. Thats what this thread is about...lol
