Johnny, I totally understand. My cousins the exact same way. I made her a mix cd of all the classic freestyle songs about 2 months ago. and she still listens to it on a regular day basis. anything new that i play in my room that i think would bump would totally be off limits for her. i dont know why neither. all the good new school stuff are as good as the old ones. i guess its just likes the music she was raised with that makes her this way.

anyway, that wasnt where i was gettin at. i basically wanted to know what the age groups were for the people who bring you the most ratings. any and all information you can give would definitely be very helpful for me. this will determine how i can better market my stuff.

Johnny I think the Sunday Night Freestyle show would be way more popular if KTU would play classic freestyle songs along with popular new school songs from popular new school and old school artists!For example an example playlist would include popular old school freestyle and popular new school/sub freestyle songs,Here is what a good hour or more's high ratings playlist would look like,George Lamond "Lately" new,Eileen Flores "Touch Me With Your Heart" old,Rockell "In A Dream" new,Synthia Figueroa "Touch Me" new,Voyce "Within My Heart" old,TKA "Louder Than Love" old,Lisette Melendez "Stranger In My House Of Love",George Lamond "Where Does That Leave Love",Safire "Made Up My Mind"Cover Girls "Funk Boutique" old,Rachael Lampa "Shaken" new,Sonique "Feels So Good" new,Noel "Silent Morning" ,Soave "Crying Over You",TKA "Maria" old,SF Spanish Fly "Treasure Of My Heart" and Cynthia "Thinkig About You" new.You see are playing popular new stff by popular old scol artists,mixed with a little psuedo freestyle pop that is popular among the masses and popular new school that is really a year or more old popular songs in the freestyle market and freestyle music that at one time or another was popular on Us radio and the dance scene like SF SPANISH FLY,ANGELINA,JOCELYN ENRIIQUEZ,K7,NEW GERORGE LAMOND & NEW CYNTHIA.Follow this formula,advertise the show on flyers and billbords or a tv spot and especially on the internet aswell as on your sister radio stations like Z100 if possible,if not you definetly must still adverttise on the internet and on your radio stations you must do this anyaway to be succesful.Judy Torres should have guest visitars like George Lamond,Cynthia,TKA,Lil Suzy plus give way good prizes like tickets to concerts of Enrique Iglesias and,Jaci Velasquez and Destiny's Child and have some pop stars like Oscar De La Hoya,Destiny's Child and Jaci Velasquez on the show and play their freestyle mixes and give way their CDs and posters,maybe you could have free t-shirts,freestyle show tickets give away and some special Freestyle guests online at clubFreestyle.All this would generate big ratings.I am Not telling the big wigs at clear channel what to do.This is just an idea.GOD Bless,Omar 😉
 
Omar, you hit it right on the button! I wanted to mention that on my last post. but if you mix old school with the new on judy's show, I don't see the reason of why some one would change the channel. Maybe Judy should mix it up in her show . New and old and I bet the ratings woud stay the same. I listen to Q102 but,its rear that I would switch to another station because the bottom line is that no one else is playing this kind of music in this time slot! Judy 's gotta make the move!
 
why does everyone have beef with mr budz. just because hes cutting you guys off? look, lets put it this way, if it werent for what he is doing right now freestyle wouldnt be on the air period. so you people better suck it up if you want your kinda music up there someday. this takes time. we want "other" people to hear and feel. as soon as we do this im sure frankie blues would let johnny do his thing in fulfilling your needs. till then, hold your horses.

i gotta agree wit JOE, just be happy that u all get tha freestyle on tha radio at all! it is so rare that we get freestyle records played down here. tha last really big ones were "in a dream", "if i had the chance", & "angel" (which isn't technically even freestyle). tha follow up hits from these artists were all ignored. never any old school except u can catch "please dont go" or "let the music play" on some of tha r&b old school lunchtime mixes. but thats it! but when i got my comp. i saw i could hear KTU online. and now i always do it! i luv tha sunday nights! just be lucky u all got dj's like Johnny, Judy, & Lynda Lopez-who actually give freestyle some exposure.

Another thing KTU should consider putting their Freestyle show on Friday night or saturday night when everyone is up and awake listening to the radio,ready to go clubbin,listening to the show as they ride around to go partying,home alone talking to their sweetheart on the phone calling in requests or online at home on the internet listening to the show.I know Judy Torres usually does concert tours on friday and saturdays so maybe Linda Lopez could do the show who is Jennifer Lopez sistar and works for KTU/VH1!Linda could have Jennifer Lopez on the show and play her freestyle mixes of JLO's music,Judy could still do a sundaynight show.Johnny Budz mix could be pre-recorded from his afternoon mixes and he could do his mix live both nights if he is not spining at a club.Maybe Judy Torres might switch shifts to work on a friday or saturday night instead of sunday.Or maybe you could repeat the sunday show on a friday or saturday night and when the next sunday do a new show like you always do and repeat it on friday and saturday nights.All this can help KTU make money,get high ratings and help Freestyle!Also KTU sponsored concerts featuring freestyle artists with Latin pop,merengue,salsa,pop and rap artists aswell would give you a chance to pass out flyers,give away prizes and promote the show at big events.Maybe if Johnny Budz and Judy Torres are not available for friday night or saturday night maybe we can have guest dj's like Paco,Linda Lopez,Tony Moran,Jellybean Benitez,George Lamond,Cynthia,Jaci Velasquez,Rachael Lampa,Safire,Andy Panda,Elizabeth Rodriguez,Jennifer Lopez,Sofia Vergarra from club caliente and Michael De Lorenzo from resurction blvd/new york undercover,all will abel to promote their music/tv show/concert on air and play their favorite freestyle songs talk to the fans,give away prizes.KTU has the money to help make freestyle big and has the power to let freestyle make KTU lots of money from high ratings and concert shows.Once again it's just an idea.GOD Bless,Omar 🙂
 
Jennifer Lopez had freestyle remixes? which songs were they? was there any for "Feelin' So Good"? cuz i thought i heard one that kinda had a freestyle sound but i wasn't sure if it was an actual commercial remix or if it was tha dj.

Feelin So Good,Waiting For Tonight,If You Had My Love,Play and My Love Don't Cost A Thing all had house,eurodance pop and psuedo freestyle music mixes maybe you can find them at wal-mart and kmart who have started to carry new maxi cd singles of old songs from NO MERCY,ENRIQUE IGLESIAS,TRACIE SPENCER,REAL MCCOY,LA BOUCHE,LE CLICK,LOS DEL RIO,RICKY MARTIN,ILEGALES,PUFF DADDY,MASE,2PAC,NOTRIOUS BIG,CAPTAIN HOLLYWOOD PROJECT etc so maybe those Jennifer Lopez mixes are still available sometimes radio stations play those mixes however I am not sure if KTU does only because I don't live in New York.GOD Bless,Omar 🙂

You guys are failing to forget that the first 2 hours of the show (9:00-11:00) is doing better than ever. The ratings are higher than ever. KTU is gonna chance a thing about the first 2 hours of the show.

Proyecto, KTU does have a freestyle show on Saturday nights...lol..from 9-11. I mix during those hours also. Also, when did JLO ever do a freestyle remix of any of her songs ??!?

Mark...when does Linda Lopez support freestyle on ktu !???

Johny everything sounds great!KTU has great ratings on the snday night 9-11 show!You are playing Freestyle at night on the weekends sounds awesome!KTU should keep this formula up and don't change a thing!I like what I am hearing!I was not aware as many people are not aware that the show is on from 11 to 12.Maybe because instead of the interactive fun envivorment and full songs being playe rom 9 to 11 make it clear to the public that it's a radio show.When you do your 11 to 12 mix on sunday people are sleepy,got work are going to bed or assume the show is over once Judy leaves the spotlight and you take over.I know you work the show all the time not not 11 to 12 on sundays however it is KTU's deejays and program director's job to let everyone be aware when you are spinning and live on the air!You doing club shows,spining on the radio makes you a very sucessful popular deejay all I see wrong with you is that people aren't aware when you are on the air and I think KTU should work on making you a star personality on their station like they do for other disc jokeys,Johnny Budz your music is star everyoneloves your music but if more people were aware of when you are mixing it and that is You mixing then everyone would turn on the radio just to hear Johnny Budz!The 11 to 12 time slot on sundays drops on every radio station however I agree your ratings on the 11 to 12 could improve.Well MEGA 97.9 AND LIGHT FM HAVE HELD THE NUMBER ONE SPOT IN NEW YORK CITY JUST AS MUCH AS HOT 97 & KTU!WHAT DOES THAT TELL US?IT'S ANYBODY'S GAME!DJ JOHNNY BUDZ POPULAR MIXES COULD BE A TREND SETTING SHOW THAT PUTS KTU AT NO#1 WHEN HE IS ON THE AIR IT'S JUST OF MATTER OF GETTING PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO YOU AND KNOWING WHEN YOU ARE ON!GOD BLESS YOU JOHNNY BUDZ!ALWAYS,OMAR 🙂
 
man i swear, tha first time i tuned into KTU online...Linda was tha d.j. that was on. cuz i remember thinking (vh1) and i didnt know she was a d.j. too (busy woman!). and i remember outta nowhere she just pulled out "change on me" & "where are you tonight". in like tha same hour! i also heard some guy requesting "running" and then hearing that as well! i was blown away! cuz back when i was in New York, i don't remember KTU playing any freestyle. of course when i leave that's when they change tha format!😡

she don't normally play freestyle records when she's on?
 
honestly..i havn't listend to KTU as a whole in about year..in general..they play the same songs over and over and over....the same goes for johnny's mix show..he has played some really great new stuff..but in general it's like listening to mixed tapes i made in '88......but hey...i understand u have to cater to your audience...which means for ktu over 30....I now listen to the "island underground" on 92.7 and they ALWAYS play new music..eventhough it's a dance music show..but they never fail to give a newcommer a shot.....hey Johnny- I know there's pressure from the head office ...but unfortunatly u catch the sh*t from the listeners....but there u have it....they all want new freestyle...plain and simple...don't say it's the new stuff.....sunday 11pm??? ...i am the only one doing 140 on the L.I.E. ...the roads are dead..people are sleeeeeeeping..even the cops on radar patrol =)

i see her singles in tha store all tha time! and i am always tempted to get "Feelin' So Good" because i remember hearing a freestyle mix of it. but don't know exactly how to get or what its on. but tha remixes are all hex hector or thunderpass mixes, which i only know to be techno. so i am unsure. do u know tha mix im talkin about?

oh yeah...you've seen Captain Hollywood singles? they re-released it? i've been trying to find "More & More" in it's full length for tha longest!
 
Orgntr..sorry..i didn't see your question. KTU gets the ratings from random listeners. Doesn't matter if they like freestyle, disco, trance, etc. I'm not 100% positive on how the system works however. But they aren't asking just freestyle lovers and they're not asking freestyle haters either. NOT just freestyle fans listen on sundays. We get requests for Britney Spears and Madonna everyweek ! lol

RhythmFaktor, I'm sure my lunch mixes are the same ol songs to you. But my Sunday show from 11-midnight ? If i'm not playing newer stuff, I play alot of songs that either never got radio play, or hasn't been heard in a long time. Sure the freestyle freaks like yourself and others on this board that have every freestyle song ever made won't appreciate it as much as the normal listener. But you are correct. I need to cater to the core listeners, and the core listener isn't a freestyle fanatic. Thank u for understanding. But just because 20 people on this thread want new stuff, we can't say that is what the 2.5 million other listeners want. 🙂
 
Speaking on behalf of "The Millions & Millions" of Budz's fans,(Whoa I gotta stop watching all that WWF Raw is WAR! hahaha)

Dont worry JB, just keep doin whatcha doin, it's working!! Most of us try to tune in for one portion of the show or the other, it's all good, and folks we shouldn't complain whether New Skool or the Old Classics are being played!!! We should just be grateful theres freestyle being played.

WELL, I DIDN'T READ EACH POST BUT HERE IS WHAT I THINK WE "THE FANS" SHOULD BE DOING. FIRST, LISTEN IN TO THE SHOW (9-12) SUNDAY NIGHTS. NEXT, CALL IN & SHOW INTEREST, THIS WILL EVENTUALLY "THE WORD" WILL GET TO THE BIG OFFICES. ABOUT THE NEW SCHOOL, PEOPLE NEED TO STOP DOGGING IT & INSTEAD SUPPORT IT WHEN IT AIRS. THIRD, E-MAIL THE BIG DOGS AT KTU, FRANKIE BLUE, ETC.... THIS WILL SHOW THEM THAT THEIR ARE LISTENERS FEELING THE FS VIBE AND BUDZ.

NOW, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ANYONE TO ANSWER, WHAT IS JUDY'S RESPONSE WHEN SHE GETS CALLS ASKING HER FOR "NEW SCHOOL"? IS SHE FEELING IT OR DOES SHE DOG IT HERSELF?
