Freestyle started almost with the beguining of house music and rap, and now both music styles are growing strong around the world. Why freestyle is not growing with them ? What is missing ?

"Freestyle isnt marketable." That's according to most major record company execs.

I feel we need to start from the ground up. Get the crowds craving us first. 😉

One of needs to het the Mega Million and buy out Clearchannel then tell the labels what is marketable
(In my dreams)

I always thought it was because half the people out there dont know what freestyle is. They reconize the songs if you sing them and are aware of the material, but they dont know where to buy it or what to ask for. Freestyle is still underground in alot of ways.Thats why yhe c.d.'s dont move more - trust me, alot of people like freestyle and would probly buy the music if they had more info. on the artists and genre. It needs to be publicized more I guess. Thats just my opinion.

see thats what i'm saying Soul. I need to be rich!

You know, all we need is a current freestyle video on Mtv and I promise Freestyle will blow up - People would go gaga over it. Its like that "Fired Up" compilation theyre selling on tv with Rockell and Joclyn on it-Freestyle just needs publicity and promotion, after that evrything will fall in to place.

yup, like here in chicago, everyone knows Change On Me,and still sings along to it. because B96 always played it. all we need are some damn radio stations to play it, if they werent so hung up on all that rap!i hate that shit!

I agree young, there's alot of peolple around my way that's big time rap heads...and when I play freestlye they're like "yo who sings that"...so it's not really dead but rather not promoted.

true the same thing happens to me :listen

Yo, if the artists are ditching Freestyle, then that should be a sure-sign right there as to what lies ahead.

You either do it for the love of the music, or for the love of money.

Rockell broke out. Jocelyn is doing her own thing. Both India & Brenda forsaw the future. Marc is beyond talented. And the rest have gone on to broadway, acting, teaching, etc. etc. etc.

Those that are still in the game are doing it for the love of Freestyle. Bottom line. And they should be praised for that.

But if one expects Freestyle to be on the Top 10, I really don't see it happening. LOL. I just don't. Let's be honest here. Let's put our dreams aside for a moment. I've said it before and I'll say it again- "It's better for an artist to mold themselves and educate themselves musically, then to focus on just one type of music".

There really is no individuality in the game anymore. No creativity. And no support.
