Is it just me or do people seriously have a problem against freestyle music? Over the years, the people I know or came across always have something negative to say about the music (old school and new school) Negative as in insulting it, bringing it down, claiming there's no talent, saying it's too mushy, saying freestyle is dead, etc.

The reason I'm bringing up this topic (even though it probably was brought up before) is because I'm wondering if anyone has a story to tell about a family member, relative or friend who always had something negative to say about freestyle.

Now I know someone like myself shouldn't listen to what other people say 'cause it's only words, but sometimes it's always the same people who have something smart to say over and over again to the point it really gets annoying.

'Cause it's one thing to have a opinion about what someone listens to but it's damn right disrespectful to insult the music someone loves and was raised on.
And from my experience, most of those people who I've known and came across who insult the music are those who listen to mainsteam music like hip-hop, reggaeton, rock, etc.

So anyway ... does anyone have a story to share on this topic?

Well when I started listening to Freestyle a lot of people were like.. "What the heck u listening to?!?" My older brother tends to say things like "Freestyle sucks.. why u listen to that?, Rap is better..., bla bla..." Yes it tends to get MAD ANNOYING!!! Just leave me be, u know?! lol I listen to everything, though... Not excessively mainstream stuff buuuut... that's my story. =]

I was told a lotta negative things about freestyle music....the craziest one was that it was gay music strictly for the homosexuals....another one was that it sounded something as bad as Turkish music (which I never listened to so I wouldn't know). Whateva they say, freestyle is my life, outta the 24 hours I have, I'd say freestyle music is being played a good 10 hours a day...the rest I sleep.....dreamin about freestyle! 😉

Most Of My Friends Say Why R U Stuck In 1989 Listening To Freestyle Except A Few Who Stick With Me! But The Point Of The Matter Is It Takes Me Back To A Good, Peaceful, And Very Fun Time In My Life When Everything Seemed Good, Growing Up And Gaining So Much Responsibilty Sometimes Can Be Very Overwhelming! So I Just Turn On Some Freestyle And For A Little While It Takes Me Back To When All Was Great! Ya Know? So Like I Said I Really Don't Care What People Say About Me Listening To Freestyle! Like When People Say Stevie B Is A Has Been! My Response To That Is I Bet He Made More Money Than You Last Year Off Just Freestyle Stuff Alone! I Mean I Dont Cut Down Anybodys Choice Of Music They Choose To Listen To And Just Wish I Could Get The Same Treatment! I Pump It Loud And Proud And Always Will!

The reason why people say alot of negative things about freestyle is because since the early 90s not alot of freestyle has made it to the mainstream and there hasnt been alot to brag about. Lets face it right now freestyle is underground and I get it all the time from my friends and brothers its sounds old or its to much about love and heartbreak. Also it is possible to like the mainstream music and still like freestyle.

Two Things.the People That Knock It Probably Listen To It On The Dl. Two, I Bet That The Music They Are Listening To Now,will Be Forgotten, forever, unlike Our Undying Freestyle.they Are Mad That We Can Still Find The Freestyle Cd's We Want In Any Store, and They Have To Go To Tibet To Find Theres

i have made many good friend from freestlye and have many memories of way back when --those who dont understand it fear it and put it down because of the fear its ok this genre will be around for as long as we keep listening and playing it loud for other to hear without shame or fear ------------------just got ot be me

The first song I heard that got me hooked to Freestyle was Noel's "Like A Child" I was like wow... nice song!! Then I heard his Silent Morning and it was on from there. As far as my friends liking it or not liking. I say I have 50/50 of friends who like it and those that not necessarily dislike it, but won't listen to it. They think it's too soft and so revert to rap.

freestyle eh.. cripes ppl here would consider anything made with a synthesizer and over 120bpm "ginobeats" i swear its so annoying. and of course anything fast, that isn't rock, (that would mean: dance music!) has an awful stigma attached to it here, so that's why freestyle isn't exactly loved by all here. people feel embarrased to listen to music that's just stories about love.. it has to be cars or drugs or whatever

also alot of people these days dont want to hear any type of music with substance, no one cares about stories of life and of love. most people ive spoken to say " freestyle oh no not that depressing shit again" they would much rather listen to simple pop songs made by j.lo, britney spears, etc. along with the bullshit rap stuff which is about drugs, guns, and sex. people could care less about anything with some type of meaning to it.

Almost all My peeps grew out of freestyle...They changed with the times..moving on to Trance, Breakz, and Now it seems like they listning to anything but freestyle...alternitive, Rap, Punk..its crazy..They dont knock it but are in shock I still take it so seriousely. They got nothin against it cause they were all once in to freestyle themselves..they just cant understand why people like us or still in to it...LOL Can You Blame Them?? Why the hell are we so in to Freestyle?? Why Do we Cling On to this Music?? I mean Yeah Of Course we Love It and support it to the fullest but DAYUM!!

As for the other people who do knock it?? They simply dont get it, dont undertasnd it..grew up differntly..Freestyle Music is a Culture...we know whats up, they dont..period..They aint feelin it..cause they dont know what its like freakin some booty on the dance floor while "Take Me In Your Arms" Is playin,. They dont know what its like to roll up on a party and hear Angelina Bumpin Through the walls..surrounded with the sounds of Playfull screams, Laughfter, and Beer bottles droppin to the floor..We Freestylaz Main ....Screw Them !!!

for all of the above reasons and cuz they are sometimes hypocrites. You dont know how many times i've come across a person that will say in my presence that they listen to it and when someone puts it down they are like yea its dumb. And im like droppin my jaw ...n im like i KNOW i just didnt hear that. ANd there goes my respect for that person.

god damn, if u like it, you like it and let it be known

just tell them all to get lost.thats all !!!I myself can't live without it,can ya?so,let's have fun with it cuz in our hearts it'll never die.

WE LOVE THIS SHIT !!!!

JUST ONE MORE NIGHT,GIMME ONE MORE NIGHT ALONE WITH YOU,ONE MORE NIGHT,JUST ONE MORE NIGHT,GIMME ONE MORE CHANCE TO LOVE YOU,ONE MORE NIGHT.

I do have a few close personal friends who mainly listen to Reggaeton & Hip Hop,.. but love to come to my house cause I'm always bumping mad freestyle music that normally they won't hear anywhere else. Now I do play all kinds of music having a latino background if you know what I mean Salsa/Merengue and so on ,.. I remember in the early to mid 90's All people ever played in my area was Salsa & Freestyle Now it's mainly Reggaeton Bachata Rap/Hip-Hop which I love those as well the only thing I can say for myself is I consider Salsa-Freestyle-Reggaeton all in the same group it's party music and those that don't care for it well,.. Guess what they won't have to visit me cause I'm gonna Play what I like regardless if they like it or not..... Now my best friend can't stand Freestyle-Club music he fee's embaressed when I play it in the car he always want's me to play His Hip-Hop R&B music,. So I always tell him in your car you play what you want & in my car I play what I want so don't touch my dial or you will be walking. Plus he'll play the same damn R&B song over & over & over to the point where I just can't take it anymore atleast When I do it you never hear the same song twice cause I carry so many cd's with me.

i have family members that are in awe that i like freestyle. the music was hot around their time...before my time (not to offend n e one). but i like it. now i have friends who are like oh shit... thats old. but like reese said.. they wont admit to liking it in front of others. fake people. if u like it, let ppl know.

when ppl says its garbage... im like "why ? cuz it dont talk about money, 20's on a hot ride... cuz it dont talk about ****in hoes every day ? Freestyle is the shit! the music, the way artist sang... u can tell they put their soul into the song. u cant find shit like that now... most artist make music to catch a quick buck. Freestyle was about love, having fun, and heartbreak. it maybe cheesy to u, cuz u dont know wat real music is... but i aint to me..."

lol... i had to censor that.. but u guys get the idea... 😀

Not Too Long Ago I Was In The Car With My Boy Tito-teo (from The Lower East Side) Pumping Freestyle And He Turns To Me And Says "yo Pete, Aren't You Too Big For Freestyle. You Should Listen To Rap Cuz Of Ur Size" Hahahah I Was Dying. Freestyle Is My Sheit. I'll Listen To It Till I Die And I'll Pump It Where Ever.
