A Bronx mom says her daughter has missed 3 days of school because of the bus.
(09/10/03) UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - A Bronx mom says her daughter has missed three days of school because the bus did not show up.
Conchita Holliday says she registered her daughter, Ebone, for a new school on Monday under the No Child Left Behind Act. That act allows parents to move their kids out of failing schools. But it is now Wednesday and she says her daughter has still not been assigned a school bus preventing her from getting to school. Holliday does not have a car.
Marty Oestreicher, chief executive director of pupil transportation, told News 12 The Bronx that it would be a couple of days before a bus route is established, but added that an emergecny bus should be there to pick Ebone up.
The Office of Pupil Transportation is now investigating the matter.

I understand if the mother is disabled or maybe does not have any money. But why couldn't she take the daughter to school herself, or take a cab. I don't know but I think a childs education comes first. No matter the cost. Yes, make a stink about it. But, just staying home and not taking the child to school is irresponsible. Or it is just me?
