My mother LOVES freestyle! How can she not??!! She's had to listen to it for about 13 years!!! LOl...Since I was 15 till I moved on my own at 28......(30 now). I would put on record after record, either to just listen or make a mix for my friends. Her favorites are Judy Torres, Coro, Stevie B, George Lamond, Shana, Cynthia, Tiana, Lisette Melendez, Corina, Soave, Tonasia, VLA, LAW, Rockell, Sa-fire, & More and Joey Kid.....she's 67!! So, who else has a freestyle loving mom????? 😎

My Mom listened to Freestyle, too She died early this Year she was 73, and one of her Favourites was Lil Suzy............
I made her several tapes for the Car.
She listened to Booty Bass, electro and breakbeat, too.

She liked Freestyle most.....she did a lot of activities with me. We fvisited Power 96 in Miami arround 88 wher Freestyle was Big down there......she went with me to the Hot wheel Skating center where in the past some Freestyle Artists performed.....

My mama likes it !!

She didn't before, but since I play it EVERYWHERE, she got pretty used to it and actually learned some lyrics, like the other day she was cooking and mumbling a song, which was PROMISE ME by Suzanne Casale ( I think that's the new name of Li'l Suzy).

GO MA! lmao

Yeah, my mom knows most of the lyrics,,,she's always asking me to make her a tape!! lol.....Also, when I get records I think she'll like I'll tell her and she'll want to hear it. She even asked me the other day to make a tape for her friend.... her friend never heard of freestyle (who has??!! Lol) .....but my mom wants her to try listening to it anyhow!! 😛

Since a teen, I cranked Freestyle music in my room. My mother recognized the sound of the music immediately!

Her favorite song is Dreamboy/Dreamgirl 😛

She also love's Judy Torres "Love You Will You Love Me"

Cynthia's "Change On Me"

What can I say, I have the best mom!!! LOL

My oldest niece loves freestyle too, as well as my youngest niece. 😉

I say that our mothers that have listened to freestyle are the real appreciaters because they basically go for what sounds good.

My aunt who now lives in NC, loved the song "boy ive been told" and would bring back so many memories of her time in Paterson which is basically another Manhattan in NJ. She knew the entire lyrics for it but didnt even know who the artist was. She actually thought it was Madonna because of the voice. When I told her who it was, she was in shock and didnt believe me because all this time (13 years), she thought that it really was Madonna. I played another song for her that I thought she may have known which was "thinking of you" and she picked up on it right quick. Before you know it, she wanted to buy Safire's cd's from me. Of course, shes my aunt, so I just gave it to her. And of course, she knows other tunes like "give me tonight", "if you leave me now", "because of you", "dreaming of love", etc.... because of her life and times there. It's strange though, because out of all the artists that she knows, she has no idea who tka is. Her all time favorite freestyle joint though would have to be,..........(and I know this because whenever this song is played she starts jumping and wanting to dance) "Together Forever" by lissette melendez. Boy, makes you think, whatever happened to the good freestyle? The kind that even attracts the people of older age.

Peter, sorry to hear about your mom man. stay up man!

my mother loved to dance. she had and somewhere in her garage are still old 12" of Afrika Bambaataa ("Planet Rock"), Shannon ("Let The Music Play"), Expose ("Exposure"), Joyce Sims ("Come Into My Life"), Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam ("Spanish Fly" "With Full Force"), Man Parrish ("Hip Hop Be Bop")...i think this stuff was before "freestyle" but it laid the foundation for it and some of it is now considered freestyle. u guys know what i mean!!!

i remember this stuff well. she would break out the records while she cleaned the house on Sundays and sing and dance! LOL! sometimes i do my fresh break dancing moves and dance with her! LMAO! we had a lotta fun and a lotta laughs! i can remember this $hyt like it was yesterday!

😛
