Is anyone going to the benefit tomorrow night (Thurs. 4/17) at the Roxy? There will be performances by Reina, Amber, Dee Robert, Judy Torres, Widelife, Aria, and a bunch of other artists I can't remember right now. Also, DJs include Hex Hector and Johnny Vicious along with KTU's The Riddler.

yeah ill be there tongiht! they also are having Lil Suzy and David of Nice and Wild and Angel Clivilles -- should be good nite, lookin forward to it

I remember when they (the Roxy) had a benefit concert back in 1999 to raise money for the victims of the hurricane down in Puerto Rico. Awesome show. I've yet to see Reina live. The girl can definitely outdo anyone with a voice like that. Another performer I'm dying to see is Veronica (representin' Soundview). Hope you guys have fun tonight.

Reina has a tremendous voice but is nothing great to watch when it comes to a live show. Especially now that she no longer has dancers backing her up on stage. Besides I have a problem being supportive of someone who really dogged out freestyle when she was signed to Cutting.

Better late than never (I had to take Friday off from work). The show was great, but there wasn't much of a crowd. I guess the $75 ticket price was a little steep. Also, there were way too many acts so some people ended up getting cut from the lineup.

Reina was great. Didn't know she was signed to Cutting, but also never heard her say anything bad about freestyle. The way I see it, all the dance music artists of today are being treated and represented the same way that freestyle artists were. It's the same situation, just ten to fifteen years later. If the artists of today (the Ambers, Reinas, Veronicas, etc.) think that they get any more respect from mainstream outlets, then they are mistaken. As was the case with freestyle, all these artists get clumped into one category, are largely faceless and do these shows with 6,000 other artists. I just see history repeating itself, for better or worse.

Tonasia was at the show, but not Angel Clivilles. There is a new Cover Girls lineup (three brand new ladies singing the classic Cover Girls hits). Angel was nowhere to be found. Coro also showed up, but I'm not sure if he performed or not. Judy was the first one up on stage.

Ivan, thanks for the telling it like it is. Dance music artists are basically faceless and are used and abused by radio outlets across the country. They get that "cross-over" song, it gets picked up by a few radio stations and then they are asked to do all kinds of promotional shows for radio. However, when the artist releases their next song....there is a lot of "Hmmm, its not really right for radio" -- "Maybe if you gave us a different radio edit" from the same radio stations that played their last song. It's unfortunate but true.

Kenny to answer your question. Reina was on Cutting Records back in the early 90's under the name Lori Gold. To my knowledge the only single Cutting released was a song called "I Likes It". It was very R&B. However, she did a lot of back-up vocals for some Cutting Acts. I believe she is on a Cutting compilation entitled "Dance Music Vault" She is even on "Searching" from Corina's CD though on that track she is credited as Loreina Goldstein. Cutting loved her voice but didn't know what to do with her because she was very adamant about NOT singing freestyle. She basically felt her voice was too good for that kind of music.

Reina does have a great voice, but no Different than Judy Torres, or definitely not better than India or Nayobe, and they had no problem doing freestyle. I really have a problem when people dog freestyle, because we have some great a$$ voices in this genre.

Like Ivan said Dance artists are just like Freestyle artist and in a few months unless they come out with a bangin second single they will become last months voice. and yes it is unfortunate. I don't know her personally, but I do love her song, and her voice is awesome. I don't know if she did dog out freestyle or not, but as an artist myself, there are many genres that I would not get into, but I wouldn't dog them out. but whateva.

We don't truly know if Reina ever "dogged" Freestyle or not. So we shouldn't draw speculations on something neither one of us heard for ourselves. As far as not wanting to sing Freestyle, well, that was her decision and ovbiously, she's doing very well at the present time. And from what I hear, her and Angelo Venuto are doing a remake of Andrea Bocelli's "Vivo Per Lei". I happen to like what she's doing right now. Her voice is perfect for house anthems.

She was at the Winter Music Conference and did a show poolside for Party 93.1 of Miami. She's cool but them Titties jumpin all over the place is madd weak. Got Milk !!!!!! Hollllllaaaaaa😀

like I said, I don't know if she did or did not, it wasn't a speculation my love. I personally like her songs and her voice, just keeping it real with the fact that's it's not anything out of the ordinary as far as dance artist go. and yes her voice is perfect for House.
