Ok Im Not Talking About Just Regular Editing...Im Talking About Those No Joke Edits That You Hear Today That Started wayy Back As An Extra Mix On The Old Freestyle Records.

I Know That Back In The Day They Use To Take 2 REEL TO REEL Tapes And Snip Them And Paste Them Together With Precision Man.

I Would Really Love To Know Who Was The Brains Behind That.

And If You Haven't Guessed By Now...IM AN EDIT JUNKIE :stoned

I believe it was some guy named AnthonyA1971 😀 😛 lol
Seriously though, I'm not sure. It may be the Latin Rascals, but that's just a guess. I remember they used to do the "Paco Super Mixes" on the old 92KTU station in the early/mid 80's. They were doing things with the music that nobody ever heard of before! That would be my guess...assuming we're talking flat out multi edits, not everything else that led up to them (multi edits).

I don't know who started it, but I remember Willie Valentin doing some crazy shit, back when Iused to dance for him. Remember that Willie?.lolol

Well years ago I questioned Carlos about his "edits" that would drive me nuts cause you could never over lap because mathematically they were off. He laughed said they were called "Transformer Edits". And That he originated them. He showed me how they were done and that it would take hours for one edit. as well as lets of razor cuts on fingers😉

One of the originators

Well, I 'm not certain who started edits since edits where done way before freestyle ever came out. Producers used to edit club versions of songs as early as the 70's to create radio versions of songs.

But what you might be reffering to are the multiple edits that were common on 12's back when freestyle first came out.

The first to do these where Chep Nunez and the Latin Rascals. But multiples were made famous by a good friend of mine, Omar Santana. Who later went on to teach Carlos Berrios how to edit. Another producer who was famous for his part in editing was Tony "DR. Edit " GArcia. Notable mention goes out to my boys the Blade Runners who created one of the most famous edit mixes......Night on the Editing Block.....any dj who knows vinyl should have a copy of this in his/her crate.

Shout out to another good friend Steve "Chip Chop" Gonzalez who also use to do mixes for KTU.

Also props to Steve "the razor" Picardo out of boston who in my opinion is one of todays best editors.
