It seems form the posts I am reading.... ALOT of people like thier freestyle the way it was. same goes for ALOT of other musice genre's...EVEN Rap... the classics from slick rick..Lodi dotti, Mona Lisa... Doug E. Fresh... the Show, Rob Bass It takes two... i could go on... yes RaP has eveolved... BUT how many of us love the OLD style...& how many of these guys have had success beyond once hey changed. Look at LL cool J .... he's an actor now..his rhymes are weak...& no where near the level they were back in the day of Bigger & Deffer..etc.
Same truth holds here. why does freestyle have to change... or evolve... i said it before.. "just tell the heartbreaking story..& lay down the beats!!"
whether an artist chooses to cont. in Freestyle or move on to something else...thats up to them... AND IF it's good music..i'll support it...
the problem here is..Freestyle has NO MAJOR support.. NO ONE willing to take a chance on it... FROM the Labels to the RADIO stations. PERIOD!!!!!
It wil never die..so long as you & I continue to ask for it & listen to it... BU it will NEVER be a dominant genre..UNLESS somone MAJOR..has the BALLS to take a talented artist..like SAFIRE, Cynthina, Naya..George Lamond..or TKA... & say..ok here you go..DO WHAT YOU DO & we're gonna push it..
sorry to say it..BUT unless someone frome here can do that...it IS NOT GOING to happen.
I'm OUT!
