OOHH , I just read the discusion above and I agree , totaly. The promotion thing again--Hopefully New scool will do it the correct way and learn from the mistakes that have been made in the industry. Because lets face it , any one makin freestyle music today is doin it for the love not the money---CUZZ THERE IS NONE.

Sweetie, everybody is in it for money. Eventually, artists get tired of promotional shows and want to start seeing the $$$$$. You know what I'm saying? Especially if the promoters keep calling you for show after show after show. Get my point? 😉

NOw you know how I feel about that as well Labetty. and I don't think the "forgotten ones" are ever forgotten, cause people still want to see them, but unfortunately promoters won't make a concert for those peeps that didn't have more than one or two songs out. many of which I traveled with , made friends with , broke bread with. you know Your husband and I said the same thing not so long ago about not being compensated😉 but I beleive that if you say it enough times SalB will probably get something together. I just hope that alot of them still want to do it, or aren't in situations where they cannot do anything.

Im working on a freestyle record as we speak and it aint for the money!
I would like to get broke off, yes thats true, but I dont expect to make a
damn dime. No one likes freestyle any more or even knows what it is. Then you gotta worry about freestyle fans --Yes freestyle fans ripping you apart because
they think your beatz are to0 differnt or you dont have good enough vocal ability.

Im doin this cuzz I LOVE FREESTYLE AND WANT IT BACK IN THE STREETS And not in some DJ's attic.

Mega, if you really feel that way, then you may be one in a million who will NOT do it for money. But I was referring to the OLD artists that are the roots to the birth of freestyle. There are so many of them that was "RAPED" lovely and still til today these promoters want to still rape without the vaseline! Know what I'm saying? :lol It sounds funny but sad as hell.

But as for you, good for you. You have a true profound love and want to share that with everybody. I like that. Good luck. 😉
 
Whewww I just finished reading from page one. And all this did was get me amped..... Now I want ACTION Lets gather our forces.......... Kenny, Scott...... Summer is coming (not soon enough) Lets get a beach, a boardwalk a Park and have our own Freestyle fest. Mix it old and new a marathon of acts like the old Brooklyn Queens days. Have activities going on too Volley ball Flagfootball / basketball games between the artists..... Get the Big or Smaller sound equipment /DJ stores to sponser. I know from working older festivals alot of them donated thier equipment and techs just to advertise like crazy get local government involved too to promote thier organization to ensure advertisement as well. You guys know what to do to get an event with little investment. Hell shoot for a whole weekend. and to make it an annual or a couple of weekends in the summer. A 4th of July maybe any workable angle that would reach people. Even tourists get Liberty travel to sponser and some Envia and check cashing places too what the heck. The Bronx is famous for those festivals like 116th or Davidson Ave. (I know I worked them and donated my equip and time to them myself for 2 summers a few years back. I loved that) Anyway my point is to do one with this purpose to promote Freestyle as Dance music bridging the generation gap. Old shool artists no matter how many tracks they made with New Artists and with the Euro Progressive Pop that is basically a hybrid of Freestyle and House. Some haters may not agree but you need to unite to see that the styles are not very different really and would attract new a whole new set of listeners and probably radio heads too. Hell look for Label sponsership. Robbins, MicMac, Subliminal, Cutting and the Indies as well (whew that line up is so Krazy it just might work) Everybody who is in need of new listenership. Our own type of Woodstock Yea thats it!!!! DANCESTOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a little bit of an expo feel OK a tad teched but you have to be able to go big or not at all. Just my thoughts of what I would want to do if I had some people with the same heart working with me........

I hear what you're saying about doing something like woodstock and it sounds like a winner. But what I actually started here was something different. I'm speaking on behalf of the old freestyle artists that are not even thought of anymore. Never given shows anymore to do.

Sal B is already working on a New School Concert. So the new school is already heading somewhere. And that's a big "+" (plus). 😉

A lot of the fans want to see those old freestyle artists that don't perform anymore because promoters don't want to give them a chance. Because they don't want to PAY them like they do GL, Cynthia, TKA, etc. We need more shows with them. There are sooooo many of them. So these types of shows would be in addition to the other shows that include new freestyle and the same familiar ones.
