Kenny this isn't about just "& MORE"............ I don't want people to think that I posted this because he's my husband. It's on behalf of all the other "distinct" freestyle artists that had great hit songs and today they're not even given a single thought. Instead everyone books the same artists because of "name recognition" and pay them what they ask for. Then the other freestyle artists don't get paid EQUAL to the "RECOGNIZED" named artists or get paid at all. Something is terribly wrong with that picture. Artists live outside of the state and can't even get an airplane ticket reservation paid by the promoters and the promoters aren't even paying the artist for the show that the artist "KINDLY" agreed to do as a favor. Or for old times sake. That doesn't pay the bills. Then the promoters try to convince the artists that they didn't too well or there isn't a budget. Who are they really trying to fool? Not the old artists. No way! They all know the game! I know the game and I'm not an artist.

Let's face it.........if Lydia Lee Love was given more shows out there, perhaps she will work on new material also. But I know that even WITHOUT new material, "Don't Take Your Love Away" will be familiar and RECOGNIZED to everyone.

Kenny I hope you're feeling what I'm saying because we spoke about different topics in your house similar to this.

Kenny if you and Scotman can make a difference that's what I support. That's what I'm trying to emphasize on. Everybody wants money. But remember that the artists do all the work up there. They get up there and work the crowd. You know this. I can't support "Get Overs". Please old school artists are not ignorant to that.

I was looking through old photos and I saw one that has & More and Nelson Cruz in it from the 1999 Puerto Rican parade.It was great to watch & More,Nelson Cruz and others on a float singing to the crowd.

LaBetty...I am really feeling you on this thread. I always feel that there are artists who had what I consider to be true freestyle hits that have never gotten the recognition they deserve. One of those artists is definitely Jaidie. She has a killer voice and some of the best freestyle songs...especially "Answer My Cry". Granted, she only had 3 songs, but maybe she would have done more if she was as popular as Judy Torres or Cynthia. I also consider & More and Joey Kidd to be some of the best freestyle artists and Im not just saying this. They have always been some of my faves. But you see..this is the gripe I have with KTU. Even though they play the old school freestyle classics, they really only play the well known stuff. And if we are lucky, they will throw in something "rare" every now and then. There are so many other artists and so many other songs besides the one they always play! Thanks for getting to the heart of the matter LaBetty!

You know I would do anything to attend a concert with these “rare” or “forgotten” artist that have made some really good freestyle music.

I’d even call in sick for a week, travel to NY or NJ or FL anyplace it would be, just to see them.

LaBetty you have spoken like a true freestyler fan.

BTW Freestyle is not the only genre that suffers from this kind of “un-promotion”
 
GI you just justified one of my points. There are freestyle fans that are tired of the same "circle of freestyle artist friends". And promoters are about money. They get money from these same artists, they PAY these artists, they make them more popular and all come up with the same excuse that they don't book any other "forgotten" artists because they're not recognized by name, because they don't have new material. Well HEEEELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO, who gives them a chance? No one! That's why they're "out of commission". And like you GI, there are freestyle fans that WANT to see a different show! They want to see these artists that don't perform anymore. When promoters stop looking at it from a $$$ view and book these artists, perhaps they will see that they made just as much money or even more money from the "forgotten" artists. Don't get me wrong, everybody wants to make money. But it takes an exceptional promoter to look, research, book, and PAY these artists to do a show in order to find out. There will probably be more money in these shows because there are a greater amount of artists that have been forgotten than the usual familiar ones.
