I think those of us who DJ and/or collect 12" have a bit of a broader opinion from being exposed to the dubs and the breaks....When I do my mixing, I always add in elements from these versions to shake things up a bit....You'll be hearing first hand when you hear my mix in the Clubfreestyle.com DJ booth (soon Jack I promise!)....Good examples that I've been using lately

Cynthia-How I Love Him (Heartthrob Dub)- about 3.5-4 minutes in it totally breaks down into a short but sweet little edit frenzy

Corina-Out Of Control- the Lamour East dub speaks for itself, and as Alex mentioned, in the vocal version I love the little edited segments between the vocals in the verses.....Actually, most of the Cutting releases have quality edits (Safire "Let Me Be The One", Yvonne Deleon "I Can't Face the Fact", etc....)

Judy Torres-Please Stay Tonight- normally Im NOT such a big fan of Tony Garcia's editing (except in Reinaldo "Another Night"), HOWEVER, the bonus beats of this song has one part which I absolutely love....The part that breaks down to just the synth, then kicks in with the beat and builds back up to the edits

There are tons more but these are coming to mind at the moment.....Oh and how about LEAST FAVORITE edits.....

Lil Suzy-Promise Me (Old School Version)- Go to the break...The first 16 bars of the stop and go editing are cool (if not hard to beat match), but then all of a sudden it goes WAYYY off a 4/4 beat and sounds like chainsaws or some shit, and then badly cuts back to a normal beat and the whispered "Promise Me..."....I really love that song, but for those 10 seconds I'm just like "huh?"
