As of yesterday at 11:00 am, I am officially DEBT FREE!!!!!

I made my last payment to my line of credit, all other loans and credit cards have been paid off and cut up!!!!!!

Well okay Chuck! I'm happy for you! Wish I could do the same! Any special secrets in how you finally did it? Like any help from those agencies? Or did you do it all on your own with a certain budget? You can inspire all of us to do the same. 😉
 
I didn't use any special agencies.

I sat down, and figured out what cash I needed to have for necessities (car ins, gas, phone).

I then gave myself a budget for two weeks time. If my cash ran out before that two weeks, I was out of luck.

I then went over my bills, and found out what one had the highest interest charges. I sent the minimum to the other bills, and overpaid the highest charges one until it was gone. Then, focused on the next highest charges, and paid that one off.

Set a limit to how much you will spend on gifts, and stick to it. (I set a limit for myself of $25.00)

I saved apprx $25.00 a week by briging lunch to work instead of eating out.

Use money you receive as gifts or tax refunds to pay off bills.

Any extra cash you have after budgeting, put in a savings account. Use this for emergencies, instead of the credit cards.

By following this, I was able to pay off a personal loan, a line of credit, and three maxed out credit cards.

I also managed to put $2000.00 in a savings acount, and $1000.00 into a Christmas Club.

hey Chucky, congrats... I wish my BF would sit and figure it all doiwn... doesn't seem like he'll ever get out, I have faith in him, but he wastes his money instead of paying more towards something he owes... *sighs*
 
wow chucky thats great man im happy 4 u im sort of in the same situation also where im almost out of this freakin problem myself but i cant wait man :biggrin im almost there in gettin that big chunk of worries off of my chest, after this im gonna be very wise with these cards u cant let them fool u in gettin more than one cuz they all a scam to try to ruin ur credit history !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!in ppl :mad

Well, Chuck, that's definitely something to be proud of! I can't wait until that day comes for me (yeah right!). anyway, congrats. the best thing you did was cut up the credit cards!! 🙂
